The lust for gold has survived in the Barnes family for more than four generations, and the current crop of kin is no exception. Addison Brown, historian and researcher, becomes reacquainted with most of her cousins at her grandfather’s funeral, and the entire bunch catches gold fever courtesy of post-mortem messages and items from him. They decide to recover a long-lost treasure by working together on the family’s old stomping grounds in Texas. Addison longs to know her relatives better almost as much as she longs to establish a relationship with researcher Gary Wright from the Bureau of Land Management. Over the course of several months, mysterious cousin Donnie threatens the others, family and personal secrets are revealed, and Addie learns what’s of true value in this search. This romance, definitely in the Christian romance category, swaps sermonizing for self-scrutiny, making it a tale that many can appreciate who hold to high values and human compassion.

    Awesome Summer Novel

Alvarado Gold is a wonderful inspirational mystery and romance. Ms. Pitts-Caine adroitly knits together the fragmented lives of Addie Brown and her disconnected family. The family is brought together at first by the death of their beloved grandfather and slowly reconnected by the great mystery of the Barnes family. In early Texas, the Barnes family hid a fortune in gold; now, the death of their grandfather brings to light clues about that tragic gold and the incidents that broke apart their family. At the same time, Addie Brown is trying to bring about a reconciliation of her own. She quit her job, dumped her boyfriend, and is seeking answers in her own life. Plus, she has a mystery and a confession of her own-a mystery that tragically prevents her own happiness. You won't want to miss the reconciliation of Addie and her family and the resolution of the great hunt for the Barnes family's gold-all set in Alvarado, Texas. I assure you, you will enjoy and be blessed by Ms. Pitts-Caine's characters and novel.
