Sheryl Holmes and her sidekick Dot Watson met in college, became instant friends, and didn’t mind playing off their famous surnames when it came to taking over the Holmes family antique buying business. But Holmes and Watson, like their namesakes, aren’t happy with the normal business life, they thrive in the field, solving mysteries and putting the bad guys away. Was this review helpful? During one of Holmes’s visits to an estate auction, she spots the husband of her and Watson’s college friend Amber, who died under mysterious circumstances. Holmes, believing Roger is suspect in Amber’s death, pulls Watson and her boyfriend Jake into a tangled web of gambling, murder, and a string of robberies tied to the towns most wealthy clients.
Without giving anything way, Holmes and Watson use their skills to detect, deduce, and uncover exactly who is responsible for the crimes, even when the culprits identities hit close to home.
I immediately loved Holmes and Watson. Ms. Exline shows their amazing friendship and humorous banter with quick back-and-forth dialogue, which makes for a face-paced and exciting read. All of the characters are well fleshed out believable, pulling you right into their interesting lives. Ms. Exline peppers in the clues to the investigation nicely, so pay attention and you may just connect the dots along with Holmes and solve the mystery. A great read!
