Convenient Dictionary for Foreigners
As a foreign businessman working in the US, I have looked for a printed dictionary that supplemtnets PC-based dictionaries suitable for my deskwork. When I found this dictionary on a bookshelf of Barns and Noble, I thought this is the one. This dictionary is quite convenient for general reading and writings, because it contains thesaurus and idioms. The usage examples therein are easy to understand. This is recommendable for foreign businessmen of all kinds. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Good definitions, weak examples of use
I bought this book hoping it would give a historical perspective on American idioms. It doesn't really do that. It appears to be fairly complete in the scope of idioms covered, but the examples given to illustrate the typical use of the idioms are awful. They are so awkward, they sound like they were either written by the Coneheads or by someone who speaks Japanese and then translated into English. Was this review helpful?
