Thoughtful exploration of tragic happening.
I read this book and then recommended it to our book group. It prompted one of the most interesting discussions we've had; and our couples group reads both fiction and non-fiction. It's a smallish (224 pgs) coming-of-age novel about a boy who is well-acquainted with guns because his father and other family members hunt and fish. A younger brother of one of his friends is accidentally shot and killed in our protagonist's home, while only the three boys are in the house. The ensuing disruption (or magnification) of the family dynamic, the opposing school groups vying for the boy's attention, and the role of young lust.all make for a compelling, very well-written read. Parents will wonder how they would respond in a similar situation. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
