Love this cookbook!

Leave it to Chris Kimball and the America's Test Kitchen staff to write a cookbook that's as well written as its television show and related magazines. Whether a beginner (my husband, a dabbling baker) or an experienced baker (my prize-winning Grandma the pie maker), everyone can learn basic kitchen physics about essential ingredients and equipment as well as tips, recipe variations, plenty of photos, room for notes, a chart of equivalents and substitutions, cross index, and sticky tabs to mark your favorite recipes.

I would have given this book a fifth star if it would have included more light recipes and nutritional information for all recipes, not just the light ones.

A devoted fan of the magazines and TV show for years, I'd never bought any of the Test Kitchen cookbooks before. I bought this one for my husband, who's having a ball teaching himself baking and teaching me a thing or two along the way. I plan to buy all other cookbooks America's Test Kitchen has in this format.

    great recipes

I saw this on QVC and decided to purchase it at B&N. It is nicely laid out and I like how the layout is in notebook format. Good pictures and details.

I've tried several recipes so far and they are great....

I went back and bought another one for my daughter.

    Good overall baking book

I really bought this book for one receipe. The Tunnel of Fudge Cake is worth the price of the book. The Key Lime Bars are wonderful too. However for all their testing there are a few receipes I do not care for and when I suddenly come upon one that LOOKS good and try it out it feels like a waste. However most of the receipes I have tried are very good and I do like their product recomendations that are included in the book.

    I Also Recommend:

    Good basic baking book

I received this as a gift. I love to bake but was getting bored of my usuals. This honestly didn't really give me too much stunning or crazy new recipes but it did give me a lot of information and how-to's for technique and mastering some things (even tricky stuff like croissants!).
Includes many pictures, but as is the case with most cook books, i wish there were more! I'm definitely glad to have this one in my collection as it is quite often the one I reach for when I want to know "how DO i make a basic chocolate cream pie?".
Also--not sure what I do/did wrong, but their basic chocolate cookie recipe was dry on both times I tried it--so i'm sticking with my nestle one!
