This is a reprint of the intriguing autobiography of Timothy Treadwell who found a new life living AMONG GRIZZLIES every summer for thirteen years in Alaska's Katmai National Park until he was killed there by his beloved bears in 2003. Mr. Treadwell explained how he fled a drug filled life in Los Angeles to find renewal of the spirit amidst the bears that he loved. The book is well written providing insight into a controversial figure loved by many for his courage and hated by others for his claim as a grizzly guru by daring to reside inside the 'grizzly maze.' Fans of nature tales or National Geographic will want to read this delightful autobiography and a wonderful companion piece, THE GRIZZLY MAZE by Nick Jans that follows up on the life and death of Timothy Treadwell. --- Harriet Klausner

I Also Recommend:
I clearly enjoyed this book. It was humorous and thrilling, with courage, compassion, and determination. Treadwell's encounter with drugs had me biting my nails, but the magnificent meetings with the bears had me at excitement. This book is both compelling and inspirational. Was this review helpful?
