A shining 5 stars. It wasn't perfect, but I really loved it.

The plot was complex and twisted in a lot of ways, but it really made sense. I loved the way the author worked the time distortions without making it seem too outrageous, and the efforts of the characters to get reality back in the "right order" were funny and touching and thrilling in turn. I really love the way the author infuses humor into every situation, so that even during the dramatic final battle, I was still giggling my head off—and yet, it didn't feel completely out of place and inappropriate. She manages to inject some great comedy into the drama and excitement of a paranormal thriller.

I'm also really impressed with Ms. DeWees's characterization skills. The characters just keep getting better with each installment. Joy and Tanner's maturity is really impressive, but it still feels really natural, and even characters I was all set to dislike—looking at you, Dr. Sumner—really grow (impressive in a middle-aged man).

All in all, no complaints. We have a wonderful ending to a fun trilogy, but I still can't wait to get back to these stories. I want more!

    Best of the trilogy.

I love it when each book in a series is better than the last. This is truly the case with the Ash Grove series.
The love story with Joy and Tan is now a mature love. They are committed to each other and their baby.
However, through the unintended consequences of another character trying to reclaim his lost love, Joy and
Tan are back to square one. Actually square one minus one. Tan has to fight for the love of his life, this wife,
and his child. It's a pleasure to follow the growth of this real hero. There are several wonderful love stories
here, and I enjoy them all. And the thrills and chills are there as well, along with all the
supporting characters I've come to love and root for. I recommend this book--and the whole series--very highly.

Joy and Tanner are meant to be together with their baby girl, but something or someone has wiped out their future. The secret research of Steven Sumner, Joy's father, has brought back his wife from the dead. Has it also brought back the succubus, Melisande, who is intent on destroying Tanner? Or has Maddie's wish to Josiah Cavanaugh resulted in some supernatural intervention? Among The Shadows is a suspenseful journey into a supernatural world where demons and magic have control and where an alternate timeline exists. Amanda DeWees has written a complex story that is a fitting ending to her Ash Grove Chronicles. Her characters are strong and fearless as they try to save themselves and their friends. Can they succeed against overwhelming evil and protect those they love? Don't miss this series. I know these books will be on your keeper shelf.

The author gifted this book to me in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book to give an honest review.

Man oh man I was so engrossed with this story that I honestly did not want to put it down.

Poor Tanner, Joy, Maddie and William. Heck poor everyone that plays a role in this story. All their lives are turned upside down after time has been messed with. If you have read book two Casting Shadows then you read the ending. Well what Dr. Sumners did was a big no-no and it has consequences like no other.

Now let me say this, you MUST read the books in order or you will be lost a bit and wonder what the heck is going on.

With Dr. Sumners messing with time he ends up altering every ones life in a way that some remember the past as it was and some have no clue what is going on. This being the case with Tanner and Joy! Remember how Tanner and Joy were expecting a baby? Well Tanner gets just a taste of holding his baby girl before time is altered and Rose is no longer in his life and well Joy has no clue who he is or what their relationship was. Will this be fixed? Or will everything in the past be erased?

William and Maddie what will happen to them two? They end up together but Maddie ends up making a wish that she can not undo and that in itself has its on consequences with her and William.

One of my favorite characters in this book was Clark, he is just down to earth a joke able and lovable guy who can make you laugh at what he says.

With time being altered to please certain people it is a race against the clock to make everything back to the way it was. Evil is still lurking and is now in full force because the threads of time have been plucked and someone has taken advantage of it.

My favorite quote in this book was made by Anna Sumners " A loner bad boy with a motorcycle? I'll bet panties hit the ground everywhere he went." She was talking about hottie Tanner!!

There is a lot more magic in this story, along with drama, and a LOVE like no other. The saying is true, "love will conquer everything." This book is a MUST read for those that enjoy the whole paranormal and time-bending stories.

If you enjoy good paranormal romances, you will find Among the Shadows by accomplished author Amanda DeWees, outstanding. This was so clever, so twisty and so riveting, that it kept me completely transfixed from cover to cover.
The story picks up a soon after the conclusion of Casting Shadows, with the birth of Rose Sumner. Within a page, it was clear that something was not right. Everything that seemed real in gorgeous Tanner Sumner’s life, suddenly didn’t exist. His wife, Joy, and their newborn baby Rose, had vanished. Sadly, for Tanner, his life as he knew it, was not only shifting like sand between fingers, but was also at high risk of being simply erased.
The ramifications of Dr Steven Sumner’s decision to alter time, and bring back his dead wife, caused multitudes of ripple effects, and with each attempt to ‘fix’ this error, reality continued to swing. All the characters’ lives were altering, but shifting the focus from Joy to Maddie’s viewpoint, was an excellent tool to help tell this story. I liked how vital Maddie’s role therefore, became. Due to the ingenious imagination of Ms DeWees, nothing was simple at Ash Grove in this book. Incorporating magic and alternate realities, nefarious plots with just as equally cunning characters, Among the Shadows was brilliant. You will be kept on your toes trying to adjust each occasion time and reality shifts, and desperate to know the ending! Her ability to create strong, likeable characters, captivating storyline with enchanting romance is what made this book so enjoyable. An extremely delicious feast for lovers of Paranormal Romance.
