    An amazing fly book.

An amazing book that I highly recomend to those who are intrested in history and flying. This story really draws you in and how well he writes when you can practically see yourself flying the powerful P-47 ThunderBolt and the versitle P-51 Mustang. You'll really enjoy this story as it goes thru his flight traning to the final day of the war.

    Great book

I've met Bud at the 355th reunions along with some of the other pilots/crews mentioned in the book. My uncle flew with him so there is a connection to all of this for me. Its a great factual recount of the missions and reading between the lines of the losses these men experienced.

    Good reading!

This is a great book giving a first-hand account of flying fighter planes in WWII...both ground attack and air to air. The narrative provides a more realistic view of what happened. As in, not every flight in WWII was a shoot-em up air to air duel. I'm a pilot and I appreciate the level of detail provided, and it's easy reading at the same time.

Interesting narrative written by an incredible pilot

This book tells it's story without sugarcoating it. War is not glorified or made to look like a good thing. The author writes a narrative that shows what a pilot really goes through. *Spoiler Warning* When the pilot refrains from killing the German pilot who ejected from his plane, it shows that even 'cold-hearted' fighter pilots have emotions and that no one wins in war. Great read.
