Original Take on Vampires!
I usually like to read a book knowing as little about it as possible, often not even reading the synopsis. That is what I did with Anathema and I loved being surprised from the first page to the last. This is not your typical vampire story and I loved that about it. It may be one of the most original takes on a vampire story I have ever read. The story unfolds slowly so that we only know as much as Evangeline knows and I enjoyed that. I often had to force myself to slow down while reading to make sure I did not miss anything. I was just so excited to see what was going to happen next! Was this review helpful? I really liked all of the characters and I believed all of the struggles faced be each character. Sometimes stories focus so much on the problems of the main character that we do not always get the full story and proper motivations for the other characters. That was not an issue with this novel. There were some great revelations about the other characters. It is the start to a series but I do feel that there was a complete ending here and I appreciate that. I liked it so much I plan to buy the rest of the series as soon as I can get my hands on it!

I would like to point out that I don't go around giving five stars to books I think are "just" really good, no, they have to be perfect from every single angle, and this book definitely was.Was this review helpful? K. A Tucker has taken the irresistibility of Vampires into a new level. Well, a new dimension would be more accurate. The storyline of this book is incredible; I couldn't put my iPad down. It was literally attached to my palm for the duration of me reading this book and then some. My favorite time to read became right before I went to sleep because I wanted to close my eyes and dream of Caden the way Evengeline did.
K. A Tucker has created two new twists in this gripping novel. First: The vampire's venom on earth has lost its effect on humans, which means they lost the ability to change humans into vampires. Second: Ratheus's human population has been extinct for 700 years and the vampires there are starving. The solution to both problems was Evengeline who was cursed by a witch Vampire -the source of all the problems.
This is a story about love, lost, and self preservation.
Caden is a breath of fresh air, he is flawless like every other vampire 'love interest' but his personality in this book is just to die for. He struggles to stay away from Evengeline because he knows there is no future between a vampire who's been away from human blood for 700 years and and a fragile human who is from a completely other world. And he knows the only reason he hasn't killed her already is because Evengeline's curse has masked the scent of her blood from him. But it doesn't matter because he is already with Rachel - a blood thirsty, totally jealous, extremely possessive Ratheus council member.
K. A Tucker has created new species in this book which definitely took the plot to a new level. Were-creatures: they are the result of Vampires using their venom on animals who become connected with their vampire masters telepathically, they triple in size and protect their masters territory. And abnormal Vampires: they are desperate vampires who have experimented on feeding off of other vampires which mutated them.
Pick this book up and you will be taken on the ride of your life.

Wow.. this book! It seriously is in a league of its own right now. All the characters really came off the page for me, and the story is so unique you just can't put this book down. I absolutely connected with this book from page one. Not at all what I was expecting, and I'm honestly glad for it. It is a refreshing change in the supernatural/paranormal world.
This novel is written extremely well, has very interesting and complex characters, and really takes a new look at the paranormal genre. It's paranormal and fantasy combined in a creative way. It's easy to follow, and it keeps you guessing until the end. The next book needs to come out soon!!

Paranormal YA read with a killer twist...
The take on this subject is what sets it apart from other books. I was a bit confused when I first started reading it but just when I thought, huh? or I thought I knew where it was going-- I get dealt a total curveball that I totally don't see coming. It's so contrary to everything else, I don't want to spoil it for you so I'll leave it at that. Let's talk characters a bit. The story is told from Evangeline's POV. I found her to be very likeable and appealing. I often wanted to hold her & make things alright. She goes through a lot before and during the events of this story. In many ways, I feel that because she did go through so much...it prepared her for the challenges she now faces. I fell in?love (yeah, I know...I do that a lot. I just can't help myself. lol) with Caden. Love that name. Caden. Okay, I'll stop saying it. He's pensive, good-hearted and so spicy-hot. I didn't quite know what to make of him in the beginning but by the end...I wanted him for myself. The other characters were pretty awesome, too. Sophie-you never quite know what she's up to which keeps you on edge and then there's Amelie & Fiona-I want friends like this. I found all the characters had depth and intrigue. So if you are seeking a paranormal YA read with a killer twist this is the book for you. I want to thank Kathleen for providing an e-copy of Anathema in exchange for an honest review. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. An Amazing Book Must Read!!!!
I love to read and I love to read new things, and this story I was able to read these past 2 days was amazing! Anathema by K.A. Tucker was just captivating. From the first page to the last I was excited, in love and just well there are no words to explain! This book is about a girl name Evangeline; she encounters some pretty strange things when she reaches her eighteenth birthday. At the age of thirteen she loses her mother and she is pretty much a loner living with foster parents till she encounter a lady name Sofie and form then on her life changes. Was this review helpful?
