I purchased this book at a Goodwill. I was in a hurry, and thought the title was interesting, and read the inside flap. It kept me absolutely glued, and I LOVED it. I had not originally realized it was a true story, and that part saddened me. The pictures included reminded me that this happened to real people :( The first part of the book is more of a story, with a couple from Hawaii sailing to a supposedly deserted island, the boyfriend (Buck) on the run from authorites. They plan to grow marijuana, and sell it to their friends when they brought supplies, eventually earning enough money to get out of court. Another couple from San Diego decide to go to the very same island for adventure. When the two couples collide, they are in for the adventure of their lives. When one couple turns up dead, the other couple is obviously blamed. They say it was those nasty black tip reef sharks, that the dead couples life boat overturned, and the sharks got to them. But the betrayal and verdict will shock all.

Great story turned into a personal promotion

I loved the first 200 pages of this book and learn about this amazing true story. They were very well written and researched. Then the writer who is the lawyer of the accused in this story goes on for 500 pages describing in every boring legal detail how he defended her at trial. I felt this part was more a self promotion, the author telling the world :look how great I am" than acting as a writer. Turned a great story into a very boring reading. Disappointed.
