    Great! I loved it.

I bought this book at 7pm and started reading it in the car on the way home. I could not put it down and only stopped because it was my bedtime. I am the same age as the main character and loved the book - it was funny, interesting and exciting. I really liked the footnotes too. I bought the book for my best friend's birthday and he loves it too. I wanted it to be longer so the book wouldn't end.

Finally a new adventurous character to be fascinated by and wish

Finally a new adventurous character to be fascinated by and wish to identify with! Arthur Salm's Max made me remember why I loved to read Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Lord of the Flies and all the other great stories featuring a genuine and free-willed character. Anyway* is a new American classic! Seriously!

Remember a time when you could laze away a summer afternoon watching clouds waft by? Just like that, I dropped into my childhood years, floating away a not-a-care-in-the-world Sunday afternoon, immersed in this delightful book! It's a book that all ages can enjoy!

Terrific Beyond! An Absolute Must Read!

This playful, fanciful, imaginative and clever, insightful and funny memoir-for-kids, a coming-of-age novelette is one of the best books I have read. The Footnotes make you break out laughing and keep you utterly engaged. The parents are terrific. I have rarely seen in this age group of books how well parents are captured as in "anyway." They are from the eyes of the kid, how parents are, how they behave, how they are over-heard, how they are listened to, or not, how what they say and pass on-is remembered. The book is a great read, I could not put it down, could not wait to keep reading it. It flowed perfectly and endlessly. In fact, I did not want it to end and one reason is that I so liked Max. He was likeable and real, funny and smart. Neat. The book made me laugh. It made me happy. It is indeed, a must read!

This book is such a relief from all the vampires and violence&nd

This book is such a relief from all the vampires and violence– and it's hilarious. The characters ring true and the asides and funny stories in the footnotes had me laughing out loud. Love it!
