This series just keeps getting better and better!

I'm not going to recap the storyline since the above reviewer has taken care of that. However, I am going to say that this book is the best one yet. This story is full of twists and turns that had me catching my breath in surprise. Carrie and Nathan's already complex relationship deepens and intensifies. Max and Bella's interaction takes some unexpected and delightful turns and the Soul Eater is back and creepier than ever. Ms. Armintrout has the ability to not only humanize the 'monsters' but to reveal the monsters within humanity. Do NOT miss this book!

When the evil Cyrus turned Dr. Carrie Ames into a vampire, her only concern was her next bloody meal she eventually killed her vampiric sire, but was adopted by vampire Nathan Grant (see THE TURNING). However when Nathan becomes possessed and kills humans, Carrie sets out to save his soul. In her efforts to do so, Carrie finds Cyrus alive but human. She allows Cyrus¿s beloved to die and awakens the most ancient vampire known, the Oracle (see THE POSSESSION). Whereas Nathan runs away in horror now that he knows what evil he did when possessed, Carrie learns that the Oracle has destroyed the headquarters of the Voluntary Vampire Extinction Movement located in France. She fears that the Oracle will team up with Cyrus¿s demented father, the Soul Eater to change the world into a demonic heaven. Although still a vampiric neophyte holding her nose while drinking blood, Carrie believes she must save the world with her only card being Cyrus, who loathes her for allowing vampires to kill his beloved. --- ASHES TO ASHES continues the heroic escapades of Carrie as she struggles to save the world. The story line is fast-paced, but to better understand the interrelationships, newcomers need to read the first two Blood Ties books. Carrie is ironic, wry, and fatalistic as she gives a first person account of deadly events including the blood and gore that seems to engulf her as she battles a centuries old vampiress, a near deity, and a dead vampire returned from the grave human all she wants is to share bites with Nathan who may have gone off the deep end with the guilt of those innocents he killed when possessed. --- Harriet Klausner

    Just ok

This book was better than book two. The story flowed more and was less emotional but still way too much crying. I hated the fizzle ending w/ Cyrus and Carrie. To be honest, I was rooting more for Cyrus and Carrie, Nathan just seem to be in the way. I'm not even sure if I like Nathan and Carrie together anymore, they just seem so boring w/ no real sparks.

    Loveable Vampire Lover

Wow. All I can say is that this book was way better than the first two. The first one was great, the second was.....eh, it was kinda boring for me, but this third one....WOW! I loved it so bad. I read it in a day and I wanted to re-read it over and over again. It was amazing, but I did hate how Carrie had to choose between Cyrus or Nathan, and how Cyrus ended up dying....again in the end. It's about time Nathan reveals his feelings to Carrie, and Max and Bella....Oy Vey!!! It gave me chills!!! I'm definitely hoping, wishing, and praying that there'll be a 'Blood Ties Series, Vol.4' It can't just end like that! There's too many loose ends!!!!

    Well written, but....

Carrie comes off as a promiscuous teenager. She loves Nathan, she doesn't, she loves Cyrus, she doesn't. I didn't mind the triangle in the first book, The Turning. By the second book, Possession it was starting to grate on my nerves. Now, it just needs to end. Nathan should dump her and get it over with. Other than the triangle part of the story I love this series. Jennifer Armintrout is extremely talented.
