Fantastic read

This was a fantastic read. The story is written perfectly from the child's perspective, sharing observations and thoughts which are not simple to put into words. It reminded me of how well Katherine Peterson let us know her characters in "Bridge to Terabithia". The portrayal of growing up in Maine (having done this myself) was right on the mark.

This novel is delightful and flows along so smoothly, you will find yourself finished and wishing there was even more. At least you get to read it again! I'm giving this one as a Christmas gift for a few people, both to adults and early teenage relatives.

    more from this reviewer

Watson's Asta is Breathtaking New Literary Fiction!

Whimsical (even flouncy!) and yet hinting at the dark, Asta in the Wings is a brilliant debut novel that demands your attention. It takes you into the world of Asta Hewett, a strong-willed and naive girl living in rural Maine with a mother who redefines the word dysfunctional.

This page-turner is perfect for both book clubs and the young adult set.

With Asta, Watson bursts onto the map of literary fiction and creative writing authors, landing very near the top of those lists.
