Somewhat disappointed this was not about the war at Harper's Ferry

Many of my ancestor's fought and died during the battle of Harper's Ferry, so by the cover of this 450 page book, I was hoping for a fictionalized story about that battle. Unfortunately, this book is not about the war, it just takes place during the same time period. Fortunately, it is a very good book. It is about a private investigator, looking for a young man, of prestigious family, who has disappeared with a satchel full of goverment papers. The young man was being blackmailed at the time of disapperance. Through many mis- steps, getting beat up, following false leads, and having a rather rough time of completing his assignment, everything eventually works out, if not satisfoctoray, then adequietly. Very well edited for a freebie. No cursing, sex, preaching or magic. Some rather mild violence. For mystery lovers ages 16 and up.

    Good book!

The story utilizes events at the time of Harpers Ferry using espionage as the basid for the plot.

There is a reason why this book was free. The author should have spent just a little bit of money to have it proof-read. I am on page 170 and I will not be reading further. The storyline may be good, but I can't really get into the story because the glaring typos and incomplete revisions break concentration.

    Very good

More a mystery than a story of Harper's Ferry. Worth the read.
