Assault on Olympus is a great and exciting read from start to finish. This grapic novel or set of issues comes fresh off of stern n buscema's avengers under siege, where the masters of evil took over avengers mansion(one of the best all time avengers stories). Anyway assault on Olympus does not disappoint which usually happens after a big storyline. The pieces thread nicely and the excitement and action doesn't let up-the writing is great dealing with personal conflicts which really draws the readers in. I mean both stern and the late great John Buscema make 2nd tier characters cool. Black knight for example was at his best during this run, especially with his feelings toward the wasp and how he became a mainstay in the avengers using his intelligence, leadership, and fighting tactics. Captain marvel became really like able. Not an easy job, and ofcourse Namor the submariner was someone you would root for to be in the avengers as much as possible and steal the spotlight. Captain America , Thor , wasp, and Hercules who was more exciting than Thor during the stern/Buscema run continue to give it that true avengers team book. Battling the gods of Olympus was no easy task and each issue builds to the final showdown w Zeus and the return of Hercules from his beating at the hands of the masters of evil. Overall this was just a great avengers story with great characters. John Buscema is a real treat and had a grasp on this team that many artists can't hold a pen too. His second run on avengers ran from #255-300 which he put the avengers back at the top after a few years of mediocrity.
