Little to steamy for me

This is the first book I have read by Anita Clenney and I found the story to be very interesting. For me the only big problem was that it was a to steamy for me. I don't mind one or two love scenes but I don't really like it to be half the book, its just not what I like...
This is the first book I have read by Anita Clenney and I found the story to be very interesting. For me the only big problem was that it was a to steamy for me. I don't mind one or two love scenes but I don't really like it to be half the book, its just not what I like to read.

Faelan is 150 years old and just been awaken from a time vault. He tries to kill the woman who has awaken him, but it was just a reaction to being in the vault. He thought he had only been in the time vault for just a few days but soon realized that the world that he once new is gone and a whole new world is before him. Women are brazen and bold, people drive cars instead of riding horses, etc. All he knows is that he must find the demon that put him in the time vault before he can unleash a deadly virus.

Bree was just searching for buried treasure when she accidentally woke Faelan from the time vault. Now she has a warrior living with her that is 150 years old but still looks very young. She is not sure what the think of him, but he is very handsome in his kilt that its hard to not be drawn to him. Faelan's appetite for more than just food has them in each others arms more than once and she has no clue why she keeps letting him have his way with her. His protective streak is always making her angry because she can take care of herself and when she finds out about the demons she is ready to take them on right beside Faelan. Faelan on the other hand wants her to stay out of the way and let him take care of things.

They track down his clan in Scotland and its time to go demon hunting.

I really loved the characters in the story, from main characters to the secondary characters. Bree is very much the modern woman. She is tough, bold and has no problem taking care of herself and she can't stand the fact that Faelan wants to treat her like a weak, frail woman who need to be protected. Faelan is from a time when women stayed at home and took care of the children and the home. They didn't go off fighting demons! It drives him crazy that Bree keeps jumping into the danger instead of letting him protector, he is a warrior, its what he does. Faelan sounds like a very sexy, strong hero, and he has a lot to learn about modern women.

I haven't really read many warrior/demon books but I really did like this book and would have rated it a little higher if it wasn't for the parts I didn't like. I think if you like books like this then you will love to read this book.

    Just Ok

After reading the great reviews for this book, I have to say I was pretty disapointed. The story was VERY predictable and if you don't figure out who the "Bad Guy" is, well let's just say you aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer. There were several parts that did not make sense as well as some things that were never explained. Things like Bree referring to the Underground Railroad that was used to help free slaves and the warrior who has been asleep for the last 150 years understanding exactly what she is referring to. Small mistakes like that can ruin the story. My favororite book of all-time is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It is also about a Scottish warrior, Jamie Fraser. He will steal your heart and you will be forced to read all 7 books in the incredible series. If you haven't read it yet, do it. You won't be sorry. Wish i could say the same for this book.

    Cliff Hangers. Ugg!!

I would rate the book at 2.75 if I could. There were too many cliff hangers and not enough romance. Bree's paranormal abilities were never explained and the woman that was in the castle was never explained. The other time vault and stairs in the crypt were never explained. Bree's charmed cross was never explaned. The secret compartment in the chess that rattled when shaken was never explained. The key to the chess secret compartment was never found. Like I said too many cliff hangers. There was very little sparks between Bree and Faelan. I also didn't care for the way Faelan treated Bree. The writing was okay and characters were well developed but you needed a map to keep track of all of them.

    Not great

The premise sounded interesting and i took a chance, but not really worth the time. The story was convoluted and writing and editing were sadly lacking. I enjoy time travel stories and historicals, but this felt rushed and undeveloped. The hero was alright, but the heroine was sometimes annoying and dumb.
The story starts out fine, but about a third into the story, too many names and events start confusing the story line and parts of it were not consistant with hero from another time. As another reviewer noted, he seemed to have knowledge of modern day things, such as cameras and photographs when he shouldnt.
Time is precious, dont waste too much of it on this novel.

    I wish

The writing lacked flow. The characters lacked definition. It dragged towards the end. Somewhat confused. Should've ended sooner.

    frustrating.

The heroine was annoying. I didnt like that she reminded Faelan repeatedly throughout the book how she saved him, fed him, gave him a place to stay. We get it. Faelan was also not too bright - he just kept getting things wrong!

Many questions were left unanswered. Too many characters were introduced as well. Several time I had to go back and reread to see where one particular character came from.

I found this book very frustrating.
