A Sixth Grade Student in Glendale AZ says, Ready to find out your past?

    Chasing Yesterday

What would you do if you woke up in a hospital without knowing who you were? Chasing Yesterday; Awakening by Robin Wasserman is about what a girl named J.D. who had that happen to her.

The protagonist, J.D is a thirteen year old girl who couldn't remember her past. Her real name was Jane Doe but her "mom" said her name was Alexa Collins, and she just couldn't remember. J.D. has nightmares whenever she drifts into sleep. She needs to find out her past, but isn't sure where to start. Her best friend, the only one she can trust, is a boy named Daniel, who she only knew a couple days.

J.D. woke up in the hospital without knowing her past. She was apparently found in the middle of a terrible explosion. After the hospital fixed her cuts and bruises, they sent her to the Center, a place for unwanted children, or children who into her body and in others, he was telling don't have a home. She threw the mean girl, Mel, a couple feet away and she didn't even touch the girl when they got in a fight. J.D. didn't even know how she did it. Two days after J.D. was at the Center, her "mother" came to get her and said J.D.'s real name was Alexa Collins. "Alexa" was going to a "family friend", a doctor named Dr. Styron. She knew him from her dreams. In some dreams, he was injecting green liquid into her body and in others she was blowing up a building. Can J.D. find out her past before it's too late?

Although it doesn't say the time, you can make an assumption that it takes place in the present day. It doesn't explain where they are in the world either. Although, you can see it takes place mostly in hospital- themed places and outdoors.

Chasing Yesterday's theme is trust, believing in yourself and a little about friendship. J.D. learns to trust Daniel and also, he makes her believe in herself that she can do anything. Daniel becomes J.D.'s best friend and they've only known each other a couple days.

This is a great book for people like me, who like it when you can make movie of the book in your head. I love this book because the whole time something exciting happens. It is so spellbinding that you can't pull your eyes away from it for more then a couple seconds. You'll tell yourself, "I have to go do something, I'll read one more paragraph". The next minute, or so you think, you look at the clock and it's been an hour. That sure happened to me.

This book reminded me of the maximum ride series by James Patterson. The protagonist, Max, is like J.D. because they are both on the run. Also, the people chasing them are both scientist who created them. Both girls are strong but weak when it comes to a nice, comfortable room. They both have parents that are part of the business that turned them into who they are now as well.

This book also reminded me of the world because we could become that advanced. Our technology is sky rocketing, and we might be able someday to have people with unordinary powers and only use our minds to control everything we do. We might loose our memory like J.D. did from an explosion we caused with our mind. Everything might be this advanced and technological some day and we might be able to do this. There might be scientists today who are working on trying to make this possible right this very instant.

    Chasing Yesterday: Awakening

I thought Chasing Yesterday was an amazing book. Sometimes you do need to question yourself -- Did this really happen? Does it seem like something you would do? --- Or you need to think, Why can't I just forget what happened and move on! -- Sometimes your past is better off forgotten... And to just start over, make new friends not be whatever you were before. Those were somethings this book might make you wonder and think! I loved its suspense and eye catching cover, which first made me want to buy it!

Review on Chasing Yesterday #1 Awakening

I have just finished this book and already I am searching for the next one. This book expresses definite betrayal and I cannot express how much excitement I had while reading this book. I will finish reading a chapter and realize that my heart is pounding like nobody's business. A very good book indeed.

    Chasing Yesterday

    Book Review Outline
Book title and author: Chasing Yesterday, Robin Wasserman
Title of review: Chasing Yesterday, Series 1
    Number of stars (1 to 5): 4

    Introduction
Chasing Yesterday is about a 13-year old girl who has a just woken up from a bomb that exploded hours ago. She is taken to a juvenile hall because doctors can't find her real parents. While she is there, she meets a boy named Daniel and they become friends. While JD is there, she finds a woman coming in to tell her that she is her mother, but JD can't believe her, so JD and Daniel run away together.
I would recommend this book to 10-years old and older. This book can entertain anyone, and will have chills running down your spine.
I think this book is very entertaining and is very suspenseful. On every page, the author will seems to surprise you in some odd way.

Description and summary of main points
The book and its author are both very mysterious. The book, in my opinion, was very detailed. It showed much enthusiasm and suspense. I think the author wanted her readers to feel chills running down the spine, and feel excited when you have reached the climax of the story.

    Evaluation
The main plot in the story is about how JD is going to get her life all figured out again. She lost everything and she can' remember anything in her past. The characters of the story help her get better through out her process at the juvenile hall. Daniel helps her as much as he can, and another girl tries to make her life get worse. With everything that goes on in the story, the theme would have to be "Never give up on hope". I think it should be that statement because she tries and has so much hope that she finds a way to become better. The book has a kind of mysterious style to it. I think this because there is much mystery to this book and it shows great excitement. JD and Daniel go to many different places but the main setting is the juvenile hall. Juvenille hall is where they spend most of there time. That is their home for now.

    Conclusion
This book is very entertaining and suspenseful. On every page, the author somehow seems to surprise you. I think that this book is fantastic! It shows much detail and I recommend it to the age of 10-years old, and older.

    Your final review
This book is very entertaining and mysterious. It will have you wondering what will happen. On every page, the author seems to surprise you in some odd way. The book is terrifying yet, tremendously suspenseful. I would recommend this book to people in middle school, high school, and older. This book will be fascinating to anyone.

Read it! Read It! READ IT!!!

There is nothing that I have read to compare to this book. It is AWESOME! It all starts when a girl is found in the middle of an warehouse explosion, with amnesia. So, nobody knows who she is, where she came from, why she was in the explosion, or who her parents are. So, the doctors that were trying to take care of her name her Jane Doe (J. D. for short), and drop her off at an adoption center. Then, she makes friends, finds her "mother", has theropy, and... well you will just have to read the book to find out.

    Chasing Yesterday: #1 Awakening

Identity is an important life theme. You get a sense of feeling and belonging when you know where you come from and who you are. In Chasing Yesterday JD loses her identity, and is forced to go on a wild journey to get it back. Her adventures take her too many different settings, and keep her in contact with a number of characters with varied personalities. The author twists the story with every page, and will keep any reader interested. This is an excellent choice for anyone who likes a good mystery book.

All she knows is that she's in a hospital. She doesn't know how she got there, what happened, why it happened, or even her name. She is on every form of news available but no one seems to know who she is or where she came from.

Eventually the physical injuries heal, but no one is any closer to solving the original questions. The hospital has no choice but to release J.D., short for Jane Doe, to a juvenile home. And the other kids aren't thrilled to have a celebrity in their midst.

Between the music in her head and the dangerous abilities she's exhibiting, J.D. isn't even sure she can trust herself, much less the woman who claims to be her mother. Dropped into a life she doesn't recognize, her only stabilizing influence is Daniel, the one friend she made at the home.

Unless he, or their friendship, was just a delusion, too.

A story line that I really like, but it's a bit slow to get started. Once it starts to pick up, though, it really sucks you in. Just when you feel like you, and J.D., are about to get some answers, the book ends! Thankfully, all three books of the trilogy are being released in rather quick succession!

    Chasing Yesterday #1 Awakening

This book offers a lot of acton, suspence and a lot of mystery.I would recommend it to those Who like suspence, mystery and action and with a thing for gore. This is a realistic fiction thriller one of my favorite kind of book.It is a type of book that could really hapen to someone. The girl acts a little older than she is.But in some scenes like a school scene in the book she does deal with 13 year old problems. It keeps you in suspense during the whole book. the first time I read it I couldin't put it down.since it has some mild language and big words I would recommened it to middle schoolers. Also if you like happy endings you should check it out.you can relate to the character if you are in middle school.you can also relate if you get bullied or if you stand out from every one else.I enjoyed this book alot and I think you will to.I garantee that you will.Out of five I personaly give it a four.

Eventually her physical injuries heal, but no one is any closer to solving the original question. The hospital has no choice but to realese J.D short for jane doe to a juvenile home. And the other kids aren't thrilled about the idea of a (tv star) in their school. Between the music in her head and her abilities j.d doesen't trust her self or her belived to be mother.Dropped into a house she does not reconize, her only stabalizing influence is daniel a boy from school.once it starts to pick up it really sucks you in. just when you start to think she figures everything out the book ends. this book would probably be most interesting to 6th 7th and 8th graders. And they are reasons, a 3rd grader would not like to read a book with so many big words. it would probably be most interesting to mystery and supence lovers. J.d sometimes acts a little older that she is but usally she does not. But at the beginning it start of slow so fast speed readers you wont like the beginning. I would give this an over all score of 4 stars out of 5

The action packed adventure series book 1

I loved, emphasis on loved, Awakening. But, I wouldn't recommend it for shy readers, or people who don't like action and fighting in their literature. But I would recommend it for fourth and fifth graders who are beginning to read intense stuff, because it is not confusing at all! There's action at every corner, with crazy doctors and evil schemes this is a real nail biter!!!

    Fantastic Book !

This book had me sucked in as if I were dust, and it was a vacum. You just read, and try to guess what's coming next, but once you think you have it all figured out...you get something you totaly did not expect, what so ever. The way Wasserman describes J.D. and Daniel can't help but make you love the two characters. When I finished the book, I basically screamed. I needed #2. Everyone should read this book, no doubt. It is an amazing piece.
