I enjoy the way Sue Grafton writes. She keeps the books moving without over burdening you with a lot of fluff just to fill in the pages. I would recommend this book for young adults, adults or for someone who wants to get into reading mysteries. As indicted, reading the books in order is good idea since the basics carry from one book to the other, but it isn't necessary. The writing is such, you can pick up what the main character is, without such in depth detail you are unable to find out what makes Kinsey Millhone who she is and how she got into the PI business.Show Less

    B is for Benefit, a good follow-up

This is a good sequel to the A book that takes place two weeks after the first one ended, so abruptly. Kinsey is still sorting out the consequences of the first book. This book does not disappoint. Kinsey is drawn into a missing person mystery that, yes, includes a burglary.
Again, this book takes place in a time where answering machines were still on tape, a trip on an airplane was hassle-free, and people still smoked indoors. I like that there are still no cellphones to fall back on and Kinsey has to use her brains. Kinsey proves she doesn't need to have a man to fall back on when she tells herself that a potential boyfriend needs to go through a few more girlfriends before she'll go out with him. I did kind of figure out the murderer by chapter 17, but not how they did it. Then Grafton throws out some stuff that made me doubt my first answer. Good writing.

    A Fun Read

I enjoyed 'A' is for Alibi more, but this one was still good. I did figure it out pretty early on but that was probably a fluke. I'll try the next one.

    Great Book!

This book really keeps you interested. Sue Grafton is excellent at building a plot and keeping you guessing until the very end. I will definitely read all of this series. This is the fourth one I have read. You don't really have to read them in order.

Good Read for Not Much $$

After a tiring, stressful day at the office, there's nothing like Kinsey Millhone. The series is involved enough to make you think a little, but not so much so that you're exhausted when you put the book down - an enjoyable read.

    Highly Recommended......easy read

A very nice series. A women detective who lives on a shoestring. She is an easy read and you have the whole alphabet to go through. Another thing which is nice Kinsey, PI is not a girlie girl but down to earth

A good read for mystery lovers. Would recommend it.

The story moved at a nice pace keeping my interest to the end. I think 26 is a bit much, however. Another series becaame very predictable, but I will try another in this series.

    B is for Brilliant!

Amazing writing and I was never disappointed with Grafton's descriptions of Kinsey's imagination, just simply beautiful and I can't wait to read the next one!

A straight forward mystery that has aged well

Kinsey Millhone is such a believable character that Sue Grafton has created for this series. She is fun and smart and not the usual ultra superior protagonist. Here the mystery is decent with a good conclusion. Overall, a solid story with plenty of steam moving forward.

    another good read

i like how this follows almost right after the first one. my only complaint is that they are not long enough. i am really enjoying these so far. just a bit slow in the begining but the payoff is there. i am on to "c" next.
shows it doesnt have to be a new release to be discovered or on the top 100. i am late to these but am ejoying them none the less.
