Possibly the most objective information available
I thought Anderson did a really good job with revealing where Barrack is coming from. I read this because I am not an Obama fan, therefore desired an objective source to help broaden my senses with positive input. This did. It delves deep into the history of Barack; his childhood adventures with a very spirited mother, an extreme neglect of his natural father (but not lack of exposure to the fairy-tale of a righteous dad Barack's mom worked hard to keep alive in her son's mind), and upbringing by his nurturing and liberal grandparents. A really fascinating childhood history. The story reveals a side of Michelle that I developed a deep appreciation for, the values instilled in her by being raised in a loving supportive family of high standards that were never waivered from. Everything I learned about her in this book is amazing. So too will the readers come to understand more about how the influences the Chicago community, in which they were and became ever more involved in, dominate a belief system that may be best kept in Chicago, not favorable to the power of our nation. This is a very insightful read.

A fabulous book!
I thought this book was fabulous! It gave you such an insight into the Obama's family and professional life. It is refreshing to see a political couple with such down to earth mannerism and outlook. A lot of political couples have a public life but no private life. They appear stiff and "phony" when interacting with each other. I would recommend this book highly to all who appreciate the importance of family stablity and relationships in everyday living. A career can be short lived, but a family is for life!

CAPTIVATING! A SPLENDID, POSITIVE BOOK ABOUT A FASCINATING COUPLE
From the opening pages--when Christopher Andersen describes the chilling moment when Barack and Michelle Obama had to face the fact that their infant daughter Sasha had been stricken with meningitis--to the inside details about the First Family's life in the White House today, BARACK AND MICHELLE kept me mesmerized. Anyone who admires the Obamas (and certainly anyone who voted for Barack!)will love it as much as I did--especially the account of their very different upbringings, their courtship and marriage, the problems they faced and overcame in their marriage, how they parent Malia and Sasha, and the important role Michelle has always played in the President's decision-making. I'm giving BARACK AND MICHELLE to everyone for Christmas.
