Great Book for Understanding Dogs
This book has been a huge help to me. I recently rescued a border collie from our local shelter and he has been a handful. Great dog, very dominant, and confident. This book gave me some basic steps to follow from the beginning. You may find it helpful to read the steps on how to walk your dog before the rest of the book. Hands on advise is at the end of the book. The narrative will give you insight into how your dog looks at the world.

The Dog Whisperer
I decided to buy this book after my sister lent me "Cesar's Way". I was hoping that there was more training information in this book than in the last book. While I enjoyed this book and found the information in it valuable, I thought that it was much like the first book and wasn't nearly as comprehensive as some other training books. Much of the information in this book is how Cesar got started in this business and how his business is run now, his family life and a lot of name-dropping of clients. It's still an entertaining read, but not the best book on training. I'd say if you're interested in making this book part of your collection, make sure that it's PART of your dog training collection and not the ONLY book in your collection. It's always good to have several sources for training dogs, and this is should be one of them.

A must have!
A great book for any dog lover! I really like how the book broke down the different dog groups (herding, sporting, working, etc) and what is needed for the dogs of each of those groups to become healthy, happy and balanced. There are also a lot more examples of specific owners and their dogs compared to the last book. I also really enjoyed the section of the book where Ceasar talks about how you need to make sure that you are balanced before you can expect your dog to be.

Be The Pack Leader
I found this book to be very helpful. I have a small dog...a Bichon and I"m teaching her how to walk along side me. Cesar Millan's teaching on how to become the Pack Leader taught me how to train my puppy and she's doing very well.

Doggie School/Human School
I've been a dog lover for years and have only recently encountered Cesar Millan and the Dog Whisperer show. But I have been amazed and inspired at Cesar's work in rehabilitating so many dogs (and humans) in so many different situations. We recently brought a nine-month old puppy into our house to join our four-year-old German Shepherd mix and I was very concerned about integrating them correctly so as not to upset the balance in the house (not to mention the cat). This book is infused with the exact same gentle instruction and compassionate wisdom that Cesar displays on his show week after week. He masterfully translates into words what he actualizes on the show, and there is a helpful, special section at the end of the book that addresses specific obstacles like the walk, feeding time, possessive behavior, etc. Infused with humor and written in Cesar's approachable and matter-of-fact voice, he effectively and enthusiastically relays useful information that helps immensely with the dogs, and even gets you to recognize and assess your own state of balance. This is a great book, a great tool, a great guide, and I would recommend it even to those who do not own a dog or pet.
