I love Pat Conroy's books but not this one. Thought it was disjointed and had too many stories that could each have been it's own book. Some of the ways that character's story lines were wrapped up, were implausable. Disappointed in this one.

    Boring

This is the first book I ever read by Pat Conroy. Very disappointed. Maybe it is because I am from the north that I didn't get it. The only enjoyable part was when he wrote about the food and Italy. The book was too long and too wordy. Are people really like that in the south? Sorry folks, I didn't enjoy the book and would not recommend.

    Things didn't connect

As a psychologist, I love to read about family dysfunction and individuals struggling with emotional issues however I had a hard time getting through this book. I found that reading and getting involved in all the stories within this story made me lose sight of the big picture and the 'main point' of the story. I just couldn't see how it all connected. I was so happy to be finished with this LOOOONG book.
