Bear Wants More is a perfect spring book.  Bear wakes up from hi

Bear Wants More is a perfect spring book.  Bear wakes up from his long winter hibernation and he's hungry.  No matter how much he eats, he's still hungry.  His friends try to help by taking him to their favorite feeding places, which is pretty brave of his small woodland friends.  The story is simple, but every line is read-out-loud delightful.
Jane Chapman does a wonderful job capturing the essence of the woodland creatures.  Her illustrations are beautiful, sweet, endearing, but not at all cartoonish.  The bear is clearly a bear, and when he is hungry he does look a bit fearsome (but not terrifying).
This is a book I used quite often for Spring Story Times at the library, and with good reason.

    More! More!

This has a wonderful poem telling a story about a bear waking up from hibernation. Oh boy is he hungary! This captivates the attention of babies and is a good book for the early reader.

    Bear Wants More

I really enjoy reading this book to my sons! My oldest son got a bear book for Halloween from his pre-school teachers and we have them and love them! This book fits my sons because it seems like they always want more!

    Love the Bear

We love reading Bear Wants More and Bear Snores On to our little one. Both are excellent books and we enjoy reading them over and over. Great stories with the best illustrations I have seen in childrens books.

My year old son LOVES this book

I am a mother of 2 little boys. My 3 year old can't get enough of this book. We read it over and over again every night before betime. I can recite this book by heart. And so can he. He always takes his toy bear and pretends it's so big that it's 'Stuck, Stuck, Stuck.' Just like the bear in the book. Very cute.

    Can't Get Enough of Bear!

As the manager of the children's department at a Barnes & Noble, I see lots of picture books, but this one and its companion, Bear Snores On, leave many others in the dust. There are so many wonderful things about these books: the remarkably successful rhyming text, the lovely pictures, the 'fun' way that the story reads, and the predictible appearance of each woodland creature. I love to read these books at my storytimes, and the books easily lend themselves to fun crafts. One of my favorites is to make 'puppets' of each creature: bear, mouse, hare, etc, and glue them on popsicle sticks. Then the kids can hold up the appropriate animal as he or she appears in the story. If you're looking for a baby gift or something to supplement your child's-favorite-but-you're-getting-tired-of-it-bedtime-story, you won't regret checking out Karma Wilson's masterpiecs!
