I am a self-employed man with single-payer health care that I am quite pleased with. Like many Americans, I have spent considerable time wondering how exactly Obama's new healthcare law will affect me when it's put fully into effect. You'd think it would be easy to find the answers, but it's not. Or it hasn't been -- until now.
Dr. McCaughey has written an extremely user-friendly, easy-to-read guide for navigating the rapids we are all rafting into. What are the "health care exchanges"? How do they work? Can I keep my own coverage? Will my rates increase? Will the quality of my coverage change? What changes can we expect to Medicaid and what are the consequences to my pocketbook? Who will pay for this? What about seniors like my parents? What is the timeline for rolling out the plan? The government that passed the law has not done a very good job making the answers to these and other important questions readily available. But now, finally, Dr. McCaughey has.
I recommend Dr. McCaughey's book to anyone interested to know, in plain English, how to plan for a future that will feature Obama's health care law. Dr. McCaughey has built her reputation in part by reading this (and other) complicated healthcare laws -- laws that most of us have no time or inclination to read -- and "translating" them, if you will, for the rest of us. Here she has done a marvelous and thorough job of demystifying the new health care law, and distilling it into a short, erudite volume.
I find this book indispensable.

The author has clearly not done her homework on this one.

It points out six to eight basic issues with the law and get around that the whole book (it's not that extensive). I recommended because is the first approach I have to Obamacare. it gave a good start to understand it. The wording is easy and you can read it in one afternoon.
