Before You Try Another Diet, Start With Your Mind

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy works and this book did a great job taking me through my self-defeating thought patterns. There are only a few books that I've personally found to competently address my emotional eating issues and Beck's book is a good primer, but I personally needed more. I've almost lost all the weight I gained over the past five years in a matter of about five months, thanks in part to this book. But what really made the difference was her workbook and another book called 'Body Esteem.' (I normally don't mention other books in my reviews, but in this case I think it may really help people out there). Beck did an excellent job with rational steps to take to changing my mental approach to eating, but it was with Body Esteem that I actually discovered the root of my behavior. I've read a lot of books and tried almost every diet on the planet, but I think the combination of these books is as good as it gets. Good luck and God bless.

    Beck Diet Solution on CD

I purchased the book on CD because I've tried reading the book by itself and just didn't get through it. There are exercises to do in it that help you change the way you THINK about food, which can truly be life changing - - but to work, you HAVE to complete the exercises. The book on CD was a great way to review in the car and without much effort (except to listen) to help get a new way of thinking about food into my mind. I recommend it for anyone who hasn't made it through the book by itself. It's a great way to re-start an effort to lose weight.

    A reviewer

This is an interesting book--with some very solid, worthwhile points! A GREAT book that you should read, BEFORE you read any other fitness or diet books is, 'Build Your Mind, Your Body Will Follow', by Vincent Cocilovo (think I spelled it right). Excellent! Makes all other fitness books make more sense!

    Finally!

This book addresses the exact issues I've always had with dieting ... the way I 'talk' to myself and the excuses and rationalizations I make to sabotage myself. This book has really helped me. I'm feeling much stronger this time as I try to buckle down on my eating. The techniques I've learned have really helped me follow my diet plan.
