    A Steamy Regency

Jackson has secretly been in love with Dulcie for years, but she was publicly humiliated by a former fiancee and is now on the verge of spinsterhood. Dulcie's parents ask Jack to propose, which he planned to do anyway, so he thinks Dulcie must surely desire to marry him, too. However, having been unlucky at love, Dulcie is resigned to spinsterhood and it takes some passionate convincing on Jack's part to let Dulcie know he truly desires her. Dulcie's untutored responses to Jack's rising passions soon result in an indecently public scandal. Dulcie, being no stranger to the ton's whispers, can bear the scandal well, but learning that her parents asked Jack to propose to her is simply too much for her already battered heart to bear. This is a touching Regency with a fresh plot and wonderful characterization. The sex scenes are more detailed than in some longer length Regency historicals I've read, but this is not what I'd label erotica. The growing love relationship between the hero and heroine dominates the plot and the sex is a natural progression of their feelings for one another. This is one of the best books I've read this year.
