Highly recommended for any Cubs fan
The book goes back to not only the beginning of the Cubs but baseball. Full of facts about how various aspects of the game got their start such as idea of spring training and baseball signalling (begun by a Cubs manager-at the time called the white stockings and then the Chicago colts]. Very detailed, incorporating newspaper articles and editorials of the time. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
Favorite line from an editorial from 1897 where someone wrote "A constant dwindling of public interest in the club and a falling off of attendance at games....." This could be applied to the present team.
I am not a baseball fanatic but am a Cubs fan and have thoroughly enjoyed the book.
