This cookbook is awsome! Not only are the recipes very, very good....there is a photo for every single one which I like. There is also a section that lists and describes all of the spices that are used in Indian cooking. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy Indian cooking!

THE book! Seriously...Look no further. GET THIS ONE!!!

This is THE Indian cookbook. I have several the others are either a waste of time and money or simply pale in comparison with this one. It's clear, concise, and the recipes are great.

interesting cookbook

I haven't tried a receipe yet but have read them. Had some Indian friends look over the receipes and they stated that they were authentic. Illustrations are good, informative.

Not a good Book

I got this book and quite frankly it is not up to par. I have made many of the items in it and well... for example tonights dinner included Khara Masala Lamb. I made the dish following the exact description. It looked nothing like the photo and had way too much water in it. But that is beside the point. It was not the proper color, according to the photo. Now I know that food photography is a great business and nothing ever looks as good but we can at least get the same color. I server the dinner to my Indian husband. Who right off asked me what ingredient I forgot. I showed him the book and I was already suspicious as this was my 3rd meal from the book and my third failure. I asked him to look it over and tell me where I went wrong. I mentioned that unless I had been marinating the lamb in turmeric or gram masala there was no masala in the recipe. So I went online to double check the dish, well would you know it missing ingredients. This book is just not up to par.

A Must-Buy!

I LOVE this book! I began delving into ethnic cooking a few years ago and while I have bought a few on Indian cooking, none comes even close to this one. There is a picture for EVERYTHING, info on Indian cooking/spices/tool/culinary terms, it's sectioned off nicely into dishes so if you don't know anything about Indian cooking, you can still find something delectable. And since all of my other books seem rather Americanized and slim in variety, the sheer size of this book is the best aspect of it. There are so many recipes, it took me a couple hours to look through them all!

What a Book!

If you are new to cookinf Indian food, this book is a great place to start. Ingredients and tools are explained in a clear manner. The recipes are very easy and delicious. I have made a few and they have all come out wonderful. I cannot wait to try even more!
