    Managing Diabetes

Bought this for my husband who was recently diagnosed with diabetes and he has raved about this book. It has answered most of his questions as well as given him information which his doctor did not even know. He bought a copy for his doctor who admits it has been very helpful and informative.

    Everything You Need to Know

I bought this book entirely on the recommendation of Dr. Oz's show about the silent epidemic. It contains a lot of information that people with diabetes and pre-diabetes need to know. Any question you have, you can probably find answers here, from signs, prognosis, medication, case studies, exercise and eating recommendations.

I would have preferred more summaries at the beginning of chapters so that you don't have to read the entire chapter to see all the important points. It's a dense read, about what you would expect from a doctor, nutritionist, and whatever Bob Greene is.

I'm a voracious reader but I haven't gotten through this yet. There are charts in the back that would be helpful for tracking blood sugar, and for exercise routines. Be prepared for a lot of rules, but then, if you are taking control of your health, then you need to know the rules.

    I Also Recommend:

    Diabetic Knowledge

With a diabetic diagnosis six months ago I have been reading many books and websites on the subject. This book answered some of my questions --- thus I learned something new. The information is motivational and appears to following the present recommended treatments of diabetes. I like autonomy and have been extremely successful with my own diet and exercise program so I found the menus and recipes lacking. I was disappointed that artificial foods (Benefiber, Smart Balance, liquid eggs) are in many recipes. I have tried tofu in several recipes and find it only good for the garbage yet enjoy edemane. "I am tired of "healthy" cookbooks making me feel guilty for not using tofu.
