    A modern day gothic!

This novel is based in New Orleans to Baton Rouge. As a young girl Nicolette Dazincort falls in love with Montgomery DeLande. Once of age, they marry and take a beautiful honeymoon. However, upon settling into married life Nicolette notices a change in her new husband. Montgomery develops a jealous side, bordering on the insane, when he takes her to meet his mother and brothers. As time passes, this odd behavior continues, usually whenever the brothers come to visit them. Even after they have children together Montgomery's jealousy continues and seems to be getting worse. When Nicolette learns a devastating secret she realizes what she must do, even though it means she may never see her children or friends again. ....................... ***** This books reads like a modern day Gothic novel. I could not put the book down. I simply HAD to know what was going to happen next. The author developed the characters so well and vividly that I could feel Nicolette's pain. Highly recommended! *****

    Couldn't put it down

I read this book in two days because I couldn't put it down! I HAVE to get the next book from Gwen Hunter ASAP. I'm a suspense junkie and I admit it, and Betrayal delivered.

    Suspenseful - to a Point

Gwen Hunter writes a suspenseful tale, but the reader has to suspend disbelief. The heroine, supposedly a feisty type, does not get a CLUE when her rich hunk of a husband first locks her in her room with no food during her honeymoon, then treats her to borderline schizophrenic behavior the following day. Instead she stays with the lunatic and 'ignores' the frequent sexual abuse she's subjected to for years. It isn't until her children are brought into his sick behavior that she FINALLY gets her act together to leave him. Regrettably, what could have been a great female revenge story is diluted by the tiresome device of The Nice Guy Waiting in the Wings once our heroine has gone through her trials. The reader is thus assured that the woman will not (heaven forfend!) end up without A Man.
