Much more than just a romance!

"...This is the first novel about lycanthrophy that I have ever read, and I have to say - I really enjoyed it! It's essentially a paranormal romance, but there was also more to the story than simply that. One thing I learned about romance novels featuring werewolves? They have a LOT of sex. And I really mean A LOT. I have heard this is pretty much true across the board with lycanthrope romances - primal instinct, or the call of the wild or some such thing, I guess, but I don't think it was necessarily too much in this novel, since Sheckley adds a lot more elements to the plot than simply the sex. ..."

    An Engaging But Frustrating Heroine

The prose and overall characterizations were undeniably good and drove the moderate pace of this book. Unfortunately, the plot was predictable. Further, the heroine was too emotionally dependent upon her husband and, ultimately, abandons her career to follow her soul mate into the sunset. I just don't like dependent women. (Note, the heroine was very smart and interesting, she was just too dam clingy.) Also, the climax was a bit underwhelming, and the ending seemed abrupt.

    This book was good but...

This book was a good but...not great. The pace was a little too slow for me and I thought the author could have picked it up a bit. The plot was a little perdictable but the author is such a good writer I really didn't mind. She had well developed characters (except for the Doctor & his so called lab work he was a honorable mention then nothing, maybe she'll get back to him in book two). I didn't find this book very romantic, steamy yes! I'm okay with the lack of romance because I did purchase this book for romance. The ending was rushed which surprised me since she spent so much time laying everything out. This book was good and worth reading because the author is a very good story teller. It will be interesting to see what happens to Abra Barrow next.
