This Book Contains Some Pretty Dangerous Advice.
The book was semi-useful in terms of finding clothing that looks ok and fits, but what really shocked me was that when giving tips for coping with skin problems, they mentioned Accutane as a way of treating acne during pregnancy (pg 34). While they say you have to ask your doctor (who will definitely say NO), the chances of some woman having a few leftover pills possibly taking them was much too dangerous a chance to have taken.
Accutane causes severe birth defects. That is why dermatologists are more reluctant to prescribe it for women and why you have to have a pregnancy test before they will give it to you. Use your common sense but be aware that this is hardly the book for good medical advice.2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Suggestions are NOT safe for pregnancy!!!
I wish I could give this book a zero star! With only 15 pages in, it recommends Accutane for acne, stating to "check with your doctor first." Accutane is an ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATION in pregnancy! It has KNOWN and HORRIBLE birth defects of any fetus. In fact, you can't get a Rx unless you have a negative blood pregnancy test and you are on two forms of birth control! This kind of irresponsible writing made me toss the book right then and there-almost. I then kept reading and another suggestion was to try Tetracycline-an antibiotic for acne. Well, again, this is NEVER used is pregnancy because of the teeth discoloration it can have on the fetus-permanently. They also recommend doing laser hair removal-NOT safe in pregnancy! I am furious with this book because there might be some women who actually want and do these suggestions which are NOT safe for pregnancy!!! (P.S. - I actually know what I'm talking about in terms of the safety of these suggestions in pregnancy, I'm a PA, not just some "holistic" person who's againts Western medicine.)
