A Little Mad-Still Worth the Money

I've always loved Black Gold, and was thrilled to find that Henry wrote a book about him. I love her writing style, so descriptive! However, I am upset that she left out crucial details. The author made Black Gold's accident look like an unexpected, unfortunate turn of events. In reality, it was an accident waiting to happen.
The book states that Black Gold produced one foal. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Black Gold proved to be infertile, and was taken out of retirement to continue racing. This just shows the greed of owners and trainers in Throughbred Racing. Black Gold had already made enough money-everybody working with him had it made. But, they made him keep racing.
He developed a sore in his hoof. Knowing this, the trainer sent him to yet another race. Hating the trainer yet? The sore got worse, and he eventually had his accident. As I mentioned before, it was waiting to happen. I

    A Real Classic!

I bought this book with the Breyer model horse at a local toy store. The second I picked up the book, I just couldn't put it down! Great buy, you won't be disappointed!

    Velvetstar to Horseclan

Underneath the overhang that held up the High Log, a cave opening apeared. Inside, was a beautiful cave that was carved out of the rocky hill. Sunlight lit up the den through the rocks at the back. The whole inside of the rocky wall was hollowed so a cat could easily walk through. In one place the rocks stopped and you could sit behind the waterfall looking out into the camp. -Leaders Den-

    Enjoyable

Black Gold was interesting. It had warmth and intrigue from start to finish. The detail and descriptions of the arias the story took place at were so well described. I have read Arnold Beckheart's previous books and enjoyed them as well

    Wonderful Story

This was my favorite book when I was a kid - heck, it's still one of my favorites. My mom read it to me, and I can't wait to have children to read it to.
