Couldn't put it down!

I was bored with College text...reading what I had to, and didn't care for. I picked up Anne Stuarts: Black Ice, and then I didn't put it down until I had read the last words!! I loved it! The sexual tension, the twists in the plots, the characters...all were amazing!...

Black ice i s a good story. I liked the plot. There was a lot more action in this novel than in other novels by stuart. I thought that the main character, Chloe, was okay, I'm not sure if i liked her too much. I thought that Bastien was great. Overall there was enough action and romance to make the story interesting. I like Stuarts novels but they all seem alike. The female characters are always slim with long legs and perfect bodies. The male charcters are always tall dark handsome. After the climax in each story, the men always have to go away for a while to sort out their issues. Theres nothing wrong with that, but it does get kinda boring after a while.

    Anne Stuart writes great books...

This just isn¿t one of them. Anne Stuart¿s ¿heroes¿ can be rather dark e.g. Coltrane in ¿Shadows At Sunset¿. But they all have some redeeming qualities, some humanity, some rooting value. Bastien was an assassin, pure and simple, and the term ¿black ice¿ described him perfectly. Whether he was working for the good guys or the bad guys, not much difference, didn¿t matter. He was completely cold-blooded with no morals or conscience. Killing was the first option he used in every situation. At 23, Chloe was allowed to be a little naive, even though she¿d lived on her own in Paris for two years. But she went beyond naive and into the TSTL (too stupid to live) category. She was tortured by a man who cut and burned her many times (which Bastien let go on for hours and only rescued her on a whim). She was literally only seconds away from having her throat cut. But when running for her life afterwards: ¿despite those horrifying hours with Giles Hakim she couldn¿t really believe she was in that much danger.¿ Like I said, TSTL. There was no romance, no connection between the two of them, and the sex was nothing special. Part of Bastien¿s talents was to ¿perform at will¿. Why would Chloe fall in love with a guy who was completely dead inside? And if a man like Bastien were capable of loving a woman it wouldn¿t be a whiny, stupid, immature (¿get your hands off my boyfriend¿) child like Chloe. For new Anne Stuart readers don¿t let this one put you off her. I can highly recommend ¿Ritual Sins¿, ¿Nightfall¿ and ¿Moonrise¿.
