love Jude Deveraux

An exceptional book- I would highly recommend it. It has very good character development. A classic who-dunnit.

INTOLERABLE IN PARTS

I was very disappointed with this novel. I am an avid historical romance reader so I know my stuff. But this novel being my second Deveraux I feel qualified to say Deveraux needs to cut back on the wife abuse. One finds it hard to love a man who can't control his temper...
I was very disappointed with this novel. I am an avid historical romance reader so I know my stuff. But this novel being my second Deveraux I feel qualified to say Deveraux needs to cut back on the wife abuse. One finds it hard to love a man who can't control his temper so much so that he strikes his wife like a man. I don't find this romantic in the least and believe it is indeed a romance KILLER. I'm sad to say the violence in Deveraux's novels and the stereotype her heroes have of the 'deceitful' unloyal wife has killed Deveraux's novels. This novel specifically had more pain than love or mercy. It was a sick kind of 'true love' between the main characters if you ask me. I've personally read several romances that have a strong fierce hero who DOES NOT once strike his heroine. No matter the anger he feels. I've listed some below.

I think its unfair to rate this book, which was published in 198

I think its unfair to rate this book, which was published in 1980, by contemporary standards. This was written at the heighth of 'bodice ripper' popularity and wasn't nearly as ugly as some of the best sellers.

    Bought the book TWICE!

I first bought this book when it was first published and loved it. Unfortunately it was one of many casualties of a bad divorce, so even though I had already read the book, I had to buy another copy! Everything you could ask for in a book !

    Compelling and interesting

Loved the book. Have read every Jude Deveraux book every written. This one has stayed with me as a book I really enjoyed. Loved the characters and how they came together. Love can happen that fast. I know if did for me and I have been with my husband for ten years. And it still feel like it's going to last forever.
