A VERY GOOD NOIR BOOK
This is an entertaining book of World War II intrigue and noir. It's got New York City, Santa Fe, New Mexico, a cross-country train ride between the two cities, and very interesting characters, plot, and 1940's atmosphere. Was this review helpful? Classic noir post-war suspense book
It's a great read, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Hughes is right up there with Dashiell Hammett. Several of Hughes' books were made into classic movies, including "In A Lonely Place."Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Sadly, whoever did the proofreading for this e-book didn't do a very good job. I skimmed the sample, and found several errors, including a missing word on the first page and a misplaced period on the last.
They also picked the worst of several possible covers. "The Blackbirder" is the pilot of an airplane, and the main character is a woman. And the cover shows... none of the above.
