Good fantasy series, too long between books.

The only minor complaint I had about this book -- and it is very, very minor, considering -- is that I started this series in 2001 when one books was out with the understanding it was a trilogy. In 2003, I read book two. Four years later, in 2007, the 3rd book came out,...
The only minor complaint I had about this book -- and it is very, very minor, considering -- is that I started this series in 2001 when one books was out with the understanding it was a trilogy. In 2003, I read book two. Four years later, in 2007, the 3rd book came out, and as awesome as it was, I was so relieved the series was only a trilogy, because 4 years between books in a series is a long friggin wait! So you can imagine my disappointment and dismay when I realized it was changed to a longer series, but everyone said it would be wrapped up in Book 4, so I dug in as a faithful fan and waited eagerly. Surely Book 4 couldn't take that long to write; apparently Book 3 had just been too long, so she split it half (so I heard) -- so I expected it any day. Five years later, in 2011, the 4th book is released. And it ends on a cliffhanger.

Now, I'm not unhappy that there will be more of Karigan and Zachary and everyone. But the plots and threadlines developed here -- I'm seeing at *least* another two books to wrap everything up, likely more -- and I can't help but feel disappointed. Not at the books -- at the long wait ahead. I mean, 4-5 years between books? That means Book 5 in maybe, what, 2016 or 2017? Book 6 in 2021- 2023?

it's ok

It's good just not as good as the others in the series. She is also adding more story lines and this series dosen't look like there is an end in sight and with 3 years between books a little frustrating.

    Be ready

The story line is excellent, as with the prior three. But - be ready - the book ends in a snap with no conclusion, as though the author was told to stop on that page and go no further. At least with the others you were left with enough of a pause at the end of the story that it made sense. This one just stops, leaving the characters in limbo until...one day...Book 5 appears.

    A Book With No End

It's an interesting read until the end. Unlike her last 3 books, this one has no real ending. She spent too much time developing secondary characters and then leaving most of their stories hanging.

    Doesn't follow that well

As previously stated, Karigan doesn't seem to be Kariganin this book. Also, it doesn't end, it just stops, like a chapter got left off or something. I was dissatisfied with this installment of one of my favorite series.

    To much fluff

After spending the las few weeks read the series and getting to know the stars of this series I must say that book four was a major let down for me. All that I liked in the previous books was ki d of left on the shelf, her and the horse being separated was a let down as the series is called Green Rider"..why must she be injured and struggling always as by now she is growing into a magician level and ready to work on a higher level of power. Not sure if I will stick around for book five as this book contain so many weak loose ends that most could care less about.

Horribly Disappointed- And this from a dedicated Green Rider fan.

I, like most of you, love the Green Rider series. Karigan is such a strong character always getting into trouble and somehow managing to survive. Well, not so much in this book. This book is more about external characters who, although important, are explained in such detail that the book just drones on and on and on with no obvious goal being reached. I mean for the love of all that is holy it wasn't until page 351 that they even entered Blackveil, and the pages before that weren't anything to remember. I waited what 2 years for this? Sorry, it was a disappointment. I'll still read the next one in line but I pray it is better than this one. I just wanted this book to end, it was like nails on a chalkboard you hate every minute of it but can't seem to pull yourself away.

    Disappointed Hopes

I waited faithfully for four years for "Blackveil" to come out and I must admit, I am in an uproar about it..... The book, which I could not bring myself to finish, lays on the floor by my bed where it shall remain. I cannot fully express my dismay on where the book appears to be going. I feel as though I am mourning the loss of a friend, but it cannot be helped. I must wait another long four years for the next to come out where I shall "Peak" ahead to be sure the series will not break my heart...

I felt as though Karigan and Zachary had potential as it was flaunted in parts of "First Rider's Call" and "High King's Tomb" how the orignial first rider and the king were married. The budding relationship between Estora and Zachary is a profound betrayal to not only the wonderfully defined characters but to the audience who not only reads the books but live them.

If it appears the wrongs that I feel have transpired against not only Karigan but to all who wait with bated breath for the inevitable, than I shall not only never pick up another Kristen Britain book, but the Green Rider's shall be lost to me forever...
