The NOOK version: Worth the price! The characters are complex and flawed, and you are not sure what will happen to one of them, even at the end of the book. It is pretty graphic, with attention to detail, especially in the morgue. She describes her characters well, so you feel you are getting to know them. What I found really interesting is I wasn't sure how much I liked these people, no one was really someone you really rooted for. The author lets you in on details as the book progresses --- which was great! I didn't guess who the villain was until about halfway through and didn't guess why until towards the end. I would recommend this book, just beware --- it's pretty grisly in parts. If it were a movie, I'd probably rate it R or PG-13 at the very least.

Refund???

While I enjoyed the plot of the book there was WAY too much foul language. It still would have been a good book without that. It's also extremely graphic, not a read before bedtime book. I wish I could get a refund.

    Good Read

Several references in the book revealed the author's strongly
liberal ideology, but served no useful purpose within the story.

    Not bad--fairly interesting

Karin Slaughter seems to like to shock her readers. I read Criminal because my daughter Karin--notice the similarity of name--read it. I think, since it is a hardcover I got at a book sale that I shall pass it on. Blindsighted, I read on my nooks. The murdered woman is blind, and a twin to Lena, one of the detectives on the police force. The coroner used to be married to the chief of police. Her name is Sara Linton, and she is somewhat interesting. All the action is taking place in a small town in Grant County, Georgia. The murder itself should probably pique your interest in finding out--whodunnit?

    A good read, but

Good plot, but find too many wrongs. No doctor goes to another hospital and perform surgery without prior credentials. Find character Lena with a bad attitude and a large chip on shoulder. Maybe in the follow-up story her attitude will have changed. For that reason, I will read the nexr story.

    Definitely not outstanding

Slaughter relies heavily on coincidence and convenience. The writing itself is serviceable, but not compelling. Against a backdrop of a small Southern town and thin characters, Slaughter has added a good amount of gore and gruesomeness. It is a jarring blend -- like putting Jeffrey Dahmer in Mayberry. I'd call it fluff but for the forensics and gore, but forensics and gore alone don't make a great read. Bottom line -- Blindsighted comes up short.
