The Blonde Samurai

Don't waste your time and money

The only reason I kept reading was because of how great the Blond Geisha was. I cannot believe these two books were written by the same author. I did not like the writing style at all. Just don't even waste your money.

A Disappointment

This book was extremely poor, in writing, plot, and characters. I was expecting much more out of this, as I heard Jina Bacarr's Blonde Geisha was extremely good. But having read this, I am rather hesitant at reading said novel.

While I found the main character witty and amusing, she often went off on unneccessary tangents, leaving me confused, before jumping off to the next scene. Those tangents were often about her samurai lover, revealing much about him before he was even introduced, thus, making his introduction dull.

I also read this for the cultural aspect (probably not something I should've been looking for in an erotic novel, but that's how it caught my attention), but the author completely ignored that, discarding it in exchange for the sexual aspect. That's what made this novel so disappointing. Instead of balancing both culture and sexual aspect together to make a pleasing story, Bacarr focused too much on the main character's sexual repression. In fact, the title of this book doesn't even come into play until one reads more than half the story.

I do not recommend this book, especially to those who hope to read about Japan, as it is poorly written, with bland characters, and a nonexisitent plot. I don't think I'll be reading Blonde Geisha either.
