Jennifer Wardrip - Personal Read
Although this isn't my favorite story in the Bishop/SCU series, I still found it to be a quick, engaging read.
Dani has come home to Venture, Georgia, to comfort her twin sister, Paris, after her divorce. Or so she says. Both women know that there's really another reason that Dani has finally come home.
These sisters share a bond even closer than the normal one between twins, because they both possess psychic abilities. And Dani has been having dream visions that tell her an evil is coming to Venture, and that a showdown is inevitable.
Bishop and his SCU team have been tracking a vicious serial killer for over a month. When the demented killer made the mistake of killing a Senator's daughter, the murders in Boston abruptly stopped -- but Bishop is sure this particular killer isn't finished. And he's not, because it soon becomes apparent that he's come to the small town of Venture.
With Dani and Paris, Bishop and Miranda, John Garrett and his team from Haven (a civilian pyschic unit started by Bishop), and Venture's sherriff (and once Dani's lover) Marc, you're looking at a situation that's bound to end badly. Because this is one serial killer who is even more evil, and powerful, than any of them ever imagined.
BLOOD DREAMS is definitely a quick read, and kept me guessing throughout the story. Totally enjoyable, and it's most likely a set-up for more books centering around these characters.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

BLOOD DREAMS--A GOOD READ!
Blood Dreams is the start of a new trilogy with both new and familiar characters, and although it isn't my favorite story in the Bishop/SCU series, I still found it to be a quick, engaging read.

Highly Recommended

Though I have not yet read this book, I have read the first six Bishop/Special Crimes Unit books by Kay Hooper and I loved them! I have the next three books to read and I just ordered series ten through twelve. I have enjoyed all of the books I have read by Kay Hooper so far and I know I will enjoy this book when I get around to reading it. I am sure you will love it too! A murder mystery/crime scene investigation that involves the paranormal; so exciting! -
Ok read for a serial killer book
Hooper does a good job outlining events of a serial killer and the course of action the police and federal investigators take. With this story, she utilizes psychics. While I found the story pretty well written and enjoyed the psychics connections, she started to bring in more psychics. Knowing that this is something investigators use sometimes I found a few parts a little off the wall. These psychics somehow could connect with each other and enhance each others powers and sometimes absorb them and could "dream walk." I don't think something like that is possible so I found that a little - different I'll say. Not in a bad way. The story is pretty good and I will pursue the other 2 books just to find out what will happen.

I didn't like it
I read it and I didnt get it. This is the first book I read from Hooper, so I dont get it. I didnt understand any of the characters. they were in the book but thats it, no life. maybe its because I havent read any other Bishop SCU Series, but when reading a series one should be able to pick any part and not feel left out.

Another Great Bishop/special crimes unit series
As always the characters capture you and you become attached to them. The story kept me in suspense, which is what I enjoy about this series. I like the unusual twists and turns Kay Hooper comes up with, yet doesn't go too far out of the relm of possibility. I look for a book that I can feel a connection with the characters and have never been disappointed with the Bishop Crime Series.

Kay Hooper's Blood Dreams
Very excellent read, as are all of her books in the Bishop Series. Definitely would recommend this to anyone who loves FBI, Psychics, horror/thrillers.

Worth your time, if you're washing the car
A fairly interesting story idea, but Ms. Hooper's pedestrian writing fails to take advantage of the possibilities presented by both plot and characters.

Too Confusing
I, like many of the reviewers here, was extremely disappointed in this book. I couldn't keep track of who characters were and there was not enough suspense. Too much talking amoung themselves and 'voices'

Bored and disappointed!
I have been a real fan of Hooper's and have read most of her works. This one was very slow, boring and quite confusing with all the characters. I tried to keep going, but finally gave up and put the book aside. I have never done that with her novels. Hopefully, the next novel will be much better.

Expected more.
I have enjoyed all of Kay Hoopers suspense novels, except this one.I was disappointed with this novel. I felt that it lacked a plot. There was too much talking among the characters about their abilities and not much action going on. I finished the book thinking 'That's it?' I didn't care much for the direction of the Haven unit. There were characters that I didn't recognize, with no explanation of where they came from. I feel that this novel lacked alot and I wouldn't recommend it.

Worthwhile, but not totally satisfying
Like many reviewers on this site, I was a bit disappointed by this novel from the usually excellent Kay Hooper. The tight plotting and continual surprises I've come to expect from he work just weren't there this time. Still, there are quite a few gripping passages so it's not an entire loss.

Too Many Questions Unanswered.
Was this author in a rush to publish or did she think we already knew the background of all the characters? Who were Dani, Paris, and Marc? What was their relationship to Bishop and why add another group called Haven to SCU? It seemed as if the characters spent more time talking about their abilities or lack of, than they did seeking the killer. Gabriel and Roxanne only had psychic abilities when they were sleeping? How's that work? These people were in their 30's and were just finding out their abilities were evolving? Bishop is adding so many psychics to SCU (not his fault, he answers to the author)that I don't recognize most of them. If this had been a movie, I would have walked out in the middle of it. If you want to join a room full of psychics sitting around talking about their abilities, then this book is for you. If you want action and fleshed out characters, stay away.

Okay, but not great
the start of the novel was ok, because it kept you guessing on what's going on, but for me this current novel didn't have the spark where her previous novels had. it didn't seem as involved, it seemed like a lot of material was cut. i was reading just to get to the ending of the book.

Nothing short of spectacular!!!!
I've got all of the Bishop series books and couldn't wait for this new one to come out. It did, I bought it, read it in 3 1/2 hrs. and was not disappointed in the least. Kay has done it yet again. The suspense in this book is overwhelming. The only thing that stumped me was in the beginning with the 'dream walking' and each time the dream occurred it was slightly different that the previous one. It really keeps you on your feet. If you are a Kay fan as I am, you will definitely put this book in with your 'keepers'. I DID!!

a powerful, energizing and enthralling police procedural
A serial killer has tortured and brutalized at least twelve women in Boston and the police don¿t have any evidence that would lead to his identity. The last woman he killed was a senator¿s daughter and the notoriety he brought upon himself gets him to move to Ventura, Georgia in Prophet County. Meanwhile the new director of the FBI orders Agent in Charge Noah Bishop and his team to keep hunting in Boston because he doesn¿t believe in psychic powers especially those that point to the serial killer leaving the area.-------------- Bishop is forced to work with Haven, the civilian group of psychics that were organized by a wealthy businessman married to an empath. Dani Justice returns to Ventura to help law enforcement since she is a psychic and part of Haven. She has the ability to dream walk and pull others into her dreams. The sheriff believes in her powers because he has seen them demonstrated and because he loves her even though she ran away from the town and him. Now she is connected to the danger from a monster who relishes tearing his victims apart.----------------- The latest Bishop/Special Crimes Unit thriller is a powerful, energizing and enthralling police procedural that fans will be unable to put down. Both Bishop and his wife Miranda make appearances and Hollis who appeared in several previous books in this series plays a pivotal role as she grows as a medium. The heroine is a strong independent woman who is determined to catch the killer through her way while also deciding whether she wants to be part of Haven.--------------- Harriet Klausner
