You know those books or movies where people are born to hunt vampires, like Van Helsing. Imagine if there was a whole network of these people who spent all their time hunting vampires and putting them out of existence. Then imagine if an ancient vampire, one of the first ones, was accidently raised and peace was declared in preparation for vampires to come out to humans. Granted not everyone is happy on either side.

But vampire hunting is all you know because your family was brutally murdered by vampires when you 7 years old. Working together really isn’t in your vocabulary, until you meet “him.” Drop dead georgeous *pun intented*, but still OMG beautiful and his touch sets you on fire… but he’s a vampire and you can’t trust him, right?

Well you’ll have to read the book and find out. Oh and keep your eyes open for the cute kid. He’s important, in many ways.

I give this book 5 clouds out of 5. A must read.

This product or book may have been distributed for review; this in no way affects my opinions or reviews.

    A Myrt's Review

Turn the air conditioning on because it’s getting hot in here!

Blood Guilt is the first book in a new paranormal romance/adventure series and the continuation of the Awakened by Blood trilogy, The book can be read as a standalone.

Mihaela became a ruthless vampire Hunter for a good reason, a vampire killed her parents and little sister when she was a child and she was raised within the secret league of Hunters who tracked down and killed any and all vampires to protect an unsuspecting humanity. However, things are changing, an Ancient vampire, Saloman, has come forward and is starting a movement of vampires and Hunters working together to coexist peacefully with the eventual goal to bring vampires into public awareness. Mihaela has already been in one battle where Hunters fought alongside vampires, her life was even saved by a vampire. Needless to say this is really rocking Mihaela’s sense of order and she takes a much needed vacation in Edinburgh. Of course, Mihaela finds herself rescuing Robbie, a child from a group of vampires who are attempting to kidnap him and returns him to his foster parents. She also finds herself saving another vampire from the group. Mihaela is quite the multitasker. Mihaela is rather nonplused to discover the vampire she saves is the one who saved her life earlier. Small world. He is Maximilian, a blindingly gorgeous and sexy Renaissance era vampire. Which works out well as Mihaela is quite stunning herself. And two people who look that good have got to have some serious sexual chemistry going on. Which they do. They also have matching sets of emotional baggage, Mihaela’s traumatic family loss and Max’s extreme torment and guilt for betraying his sire and best buddy Saloman (who’s over it by the way). Both are wary of emotional connections but they really LIKE each other. Their adventure begins when Robbie is successfully snatched this time by a vampire, Gavril, who Mihaela recognizes as the same vampire who massacred her family. (Really small world.) Separately and together they attempt to rescue Robbie and stop Gavril and his crew of bad vampires from using him to take over the world. They also manage to get in some crazy wild sex a few times as well. Max is obviously also a multitasker. The question may be less about will they be able to save the world and more about can they overcome their emotional angst and be the happy Vampire/Hunter couple they are truly meant to be.

Snark aside, I loved this book and M&M were great characters with genuine concerns. How do you go from hating - and career killing the beings that killed your family and left you emotionally stunted to accepting your soul mate is one of them? It is a tricky question. And for Max - how do you just let centuries of isolation, guilt and self loathing go and let yourself get close to another person (no matter how much they turn you on)? Meanwhile there is an intricate and quite interesting storyline going on with Robbie and the reason behind the death of Mihaela’s late parents (such a small world) all playing a part in Gavril’s attempt to destroy the bulk of humanity. Blood Guilt reads as a one steamy paranormal romance and still works as an exciting adventure with bad vampires fighting good vampires and Hunters being forced to decide if they can go against all their training (the only good vampire is a staked vampire kind of thing) and work along side their former enemies. This is a fun read and the action (and I mean ALL the action) never stops. The best part is that this is the first book in a series in this world so you can keep playing in that world even when this book ends.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I have to say that I liked this book much more than I thought I

I have to say that I liked this book much more than I thought I would. While the book is part of a series, it comes to a definite end and can be read as a stand-alone novel.

In a world where vampires are known only as a myth, Mihaela is a hunter. She hunts and kills vampires in an attempt to keep society safe. She began training as a little girl, after her parents and baby sister were killed by a vampire. She doesn't like or trust vampires. But with the awakening of an ancient vampire, it is suddenly a new world.

Vampires are now working with hunters and human deaths by vampire have drastically dropped. It is because of this new detente that Mihaela finds herself working with the notorious vampire Maximilian.

Mihaela and Maximilian do not trust each other but can't deny the sexual attraction between them. Mihaela is driven by years of hatred toward vampires and can't seem to completely trust Maximilian, with good reason. Maximilian, aka, Maximilian the Betrayer has betrayed those he loved the most.

I really found myself enjoying the story and liked the lore Marie Treanor established. Her vampires aren't all powerful but believably flawed. Of course there is a big, bad enemy they must defeat. But I see the need for a villain, as it drives the lore and plot line.

I gave it four stars and recommend the book as a pleasant read.

This review is from: Blood Guilt (Book One of the Blood Hunters Series) (Kindle Edition)
This is the first book in the Blood Hunter series. I have read quite a few of Marie Treanor's books and, I have to say that they never disappoint.
This book takes you on a trip through Europe where a group of Vampires have decided that they will destroy as much of the world as they can in order to take it over from the humans as they believe that is their right. Unfortunately, they don't realize that the child they are using is someone that a very powerful, ancient vampire and vampire hunter have a special affinity for.
The battle that rages between the vampires and hunters is nothing compared to the battle that rages between Maximilian and Mihaela, who need each other but fight their feelings at every turn.
Ms. Treanor is the type of author who picks you up from the first page and doesn't set you back down again until the very last page. The plot, the storyline, the characterizations are, at all times, spot on.
If you love paranormal books and even if you don't, you will love this book!

I loved the Awakened by Blood trilogy when I read it last year.

I loved the Awakened by Blood trilogy when I read it last year. And I
was excited when I when I found out about this sequel. And I was not
disappointed. This is a great new story with an interesting new plot
line and twists. Blood Guilt takes off after the events of the last
book in the trilogy but can be read as a standalone easily. You would
miss out on some of the history and previous events but they only
background to the story here. Mihaela was an interesting secondary
character in the first series. So I really enjoyed seeing her get her
own story and finding out more about her character. Maximilian was also
introduced in the last series. Here we get to find out more about him as
well. The setting is well done and the story is interesting and action
packed. It really keeps you moving and you feel like you are on the same
race against time as the characters. I really enjoyed this new book in
the world previously created and liked getting to know more about this
previously introduced characters. It was also fun to get to see other
characters from the previous series and see what they are up to now. It
helps to satisfy my curiosity because I always want to know what happens
to them next. If you like paranormal stories, that include romance,
action and adventure. Then this is one you want to pick up and read. You
wont be disappointed. And you will join the rest of us in anxiously
    awaiting the next book.

Great start to a new paranormal romance series!

Blood Guilt is the first book in the new Blood Hunters series by Marie Treanor. This series is a sequel to the Awakened by Blood trilogy, This book can be read as a stand-alone but some things will just make more sense if you read the Awakened by Blood trilogy first. Mihaela was a secondary character in that series, and she plays the starring role in this book.

Mihaela is a vampire hunter who is a bit of a loner. She had had a traumatic childhood and she doesn't trust easily. She finds herself allied with a vampire named Maximillian to save a little boy from the vampire who murdered her family. Max also had a background role in the Awakened by Blood trilogy where he saved Mihaela's life.

Maximillian is tortured by his past. Him and Mihaela are both flawed characters who need someone to love. I love characters with "issues" - they are easier to relate to and they earn a soft spot in your heart more quickly. The characterization was great and Marie Treanor is an excellent writer. The pacing was good - it was quick enough to be exciting but not rushed. There was action and adventure along with romance, so this book had it all. Of course, my favorite part is always the romance aspect. There was plenty of sexual tension, steamy love scenes, and sweet romance.

It was nice seeing Elizabeth and Saloman from the Awakened by Blood series. I was a big fan of them and was a little sad to see their story end. I hope they will make another appearance in book #2 of this new series. I'm excited to see what happens next with Mihaela and Maximillian. If you are a fan of adult paranormal romance, then I definitely recommend this book!

Blood Guilt was captivating, I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters, some parts of the storyline were similar to other books that I've read but it didn't take away from the story at all. I can't wait for book two!!!
