An Addicting World...A Decent Story

Because the series itself is so captivating, I had very high expectations for this fifth installment. The main character (Logan) possessed an alluringly unique perspective from Ms. Butcher's previous four heroes that I absolutely craved to understand "this other race"....
Because the series itself is so captivating, I had very high expectations for this fifth installment. The main character (Logan) possessed an alluringly unique perspective from Ms. Butcher's previous four heroes that I absolutely craved to understand "this other race". Ms. Butcher pleasantly delivered in this regard (as best she could at this point in the series).

I tend to enjoy books that are emotionally-charged, yet possess a clean, crisp plot with high-stakes intrigue. This book contained all those ingredients but, sadly, bordered on the convoluted. Interwoven within the main plot nestled a plethora of subplots all "gearing up" that if you (the reader) aren't familiar with the history of these characters would have been lost. I, who have followed the series from it's inception, merely held on. I understood that groundwork was being laid for future stories, but it was overwhelming. At times, I "popped out" of the story because of some break in the main plot, and I, as a reader, don't like that at all.

This series is fantastic in concept; the characters amazingly tormented yet inherently strong. I FEEL for them all, and that's why this series siphons me back. But this book did not match the caliber of Ms. Butcher's previous four. The writing style is top-notch, the outer threads of the story lines, however, were just a tad bit too....much.

Good series

Another good book of the series. You can see who future books will be about and that is good to read.
