I really enjoyed the Heller series so I thought I would try this

I really enjoyed the Heller series so I thought I would try this one as well. It was a good read, but just not as compelling as the Heller series. I found myself waiting to really get into the plot and characters.

    A bit annoying, but tolerable

Most characters are annoying. It is like the author is trying to create a quirky small town image, but it just doesn't quite make it. I find myself skipping the crude Super's ranting, the immature giggly Jakey relationship, and the work banter. The Sarge seems to be the only guy who isn't crackers. Unless Tess wises up, grows up and shuts up, I will probably skip the next installment.

    Good series...

I like the series and plan to read everything Nixon writes. I would sort of like to shake some sense into Tess due to the boyfriend and the insanity of that relationship.

    Ok enough to try another

I'm just not sure about this one.....on one hand the characters and backstory are intriguing on the other hand the whole "jakey honey baby" stuff is pukey to read about. I really dont like their relationship. I read the Heller books too and there is something inconsistent in JD Nixon's characterizations. I hope she bumps Jakey out of the picture soon. I'll give book 2 a try though.
