Reviewed by Janessa, Age 15 for Citybook Review Alice is unaware

Reviewed by Janessa, Age 15 for Citybook Review
Alice is unaware that she is half Angel and is being hunted by the Fallen angels while the Angels want to send her to hell, but it’s not what you think. Losing her mom when she was only six and just witnessed her father’s death, her only hope seems to be a drunken disgraced Angel, Mallory, who has been tasked with watching over Alice, and Gwyn, an Angel whose wings have been clipped, has been tasked with watching over Mallory, and she’s not even sure who to trust anymore. While Alice doesn’t go through the looking glass, she will have to face the war between heaven and hell.
“Hey, define what’s supposed to be normal. You’ve got wings and I just torched a guy. Again.”
This was a good book, but I felt Alice was a really weak character and easily pushed around. For someone who is the saving grace of humanity, you’d think the author, Lou Morgan, would have made Alice more independent and confidant, especially in a Young Adult book where she has lost both of her parents and the world depends on her to save it. Still, it was really good, and I would read more by this author.
