The Brides to be with Stakes throw the heart!

Bloodline John Shaw, a British man goes to fight for his country in World War 1. His captain Qunicey Harker is one of the best in the field: (odd things happen in the war field a creature attacks the enemy line, but when John gets wounded he meets a sweet nurse named Mary Seward that nurses him back to health). When John recovers he goes back to England to see his sister Lily. But an evil presence is lurking around them and when Lily falls in love with john¿s Captain it¿s up to John and Mary to save Lily before evil takes over them and the country. Some things that grabbed me in the book were how it was written like you were reading right out of a person¿s journal. Another thing that caught me was when you think some thing is going to happen it turns the corner and some thing else happens. Some things I didn¿t like about the book was how they talk like in Britain it was sometimes hard to understand what they were saying. This book does not have a series. This book reminds me of my favorite movie Van Helsing because of fighting evil. This book does remind me of a TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If you lie books by Ellen Schreiber then you¿ll love books by Darren Shan.

    A welcome surprise

When I picked this book up at my local library, for I have recently become very interested in vampires, I had no idea what I was getting into. I was looking for a bit of thrill and excitement, served accordingly with hints of terror. This book has rocked me to the core. I am a naturally a fast reader, but I finished the book in only four hours, if not less, and I know it is namely because I could not put it down. It is the first book in my entire life that has made me cry. I highly reccomend this book to all readers, but with a serious warning: this book is something else, and just like most of the characters in the book, you don't know what you're getting into.

    Bloodline

Once I started to read the first page, I couldn't put it down. This is the story about John who while in the war had to be sent back home after witnessing horrific events involving his commanding officer Harker who happens to woo his sister Lily off her feet. With the help of Mary, John gets better. Both then discover something truly impossible about Harker and set off to stop him.

    Excellent!

This is one vampire novel I wouldn't pass up on! It isn't your typical cliche vampire story--there are tons of twists to keep you reading! As you're reading, the characters seem to come to life--it's like you actually know them. I'm a war junkie, so I especially loved it. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves stories about vampires, or stories about WWI.

    Edge of your seat novel

Blood line is an intriguing novel containing themes of love, fear, death, and strength. From its unique writing style, to its reference to real events, this book holds your interest! Blood line has everything you could want to expect in a young reader's novel from characters that are easy to relate to sub stories of romance, hope, and vengeance. It's hard to putdown, and you will be surprised on how fast the pages seem to fly!

    this book was great! :D

I just finished reading Bloodline by Kate Cary and I absolutely loved it. I loved how the characters were unpredictable and you wouldn't know what would happen next. This book really kept me at the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down!
I am usually not the one to enjoy reading, I usually find reading boring instantly when reading the summary in the back of a book. However, when I saw the black background and blood red vampire symbol on the cover of a book entitled Bloodline I knew I had to pick it up and read the back summary immediately. Once I read that summary I was hooked, it made me want to know more about the book and it made me want to know what would happen to the characters and how it would end.
This book is not only dramatic but it can also be romantic. I loved the part when Quincy Harker would bring out his caring side when talking to his love, Lily. He was mean and cruel to John and Mary and refused to let them leave the dark castle, but cared deeply and only for Lily. I loved how this arranged marriage wasn't one of those marriages where the couple absolutely hate each other and are absolutely reluctant to get married. I love it how in this case Lily and Quincy do indeed love each other and actually want to get married even in the fact that this was arranged by their parents.
I felt that the plots and conflicts in this story were absolutely amazing as well. Burdens moved from one character to another, reading made me feel each characters pain and what might they be going through because some of the conflicts that Kate Cary used could be related to teens and real life situations. Such as, peer pressure, temptations, and some things as simple as the love and bond within a family. John loves his sister so much that he would put his life at risk and be trapped in Dracula's dark castle forever than see his sweet sisters soul being sold to the devil. The love between John and his fiancé, Mary, is very strong as well. I love it how Mary would follow John on his quest to Dracula's castle with the fact that they could die there.
My favorite part has to be the end of the book. I love how Quincy let Mary go free and him killing his own father to set himself free and the evils of being a vampire since now he has felt real human heartbreak since his love is now dead. I love it when the villain turns good. However, not all the characters are good in the end, which gives it a thrilling twist. I loved reading about how John slowly became a vampire and how his personality went from good to terrible. This book kept me interested all the way until the end.

    Sweet Surprise

This is a Vampire Book like no other. Refreshing new twist on an old Vampire Story. Yes, I've read Sookie Series and Twilight Series, but this book just fell into my lap. (thanks to my brother :)) It's set in the early 1900 during the war between Germany/England. It's diary entries from 4 main characters (Mary Seward a nurse working at the Sanitorium, 2 from soilders Capt. Quincey and Lt.John and Lily, John's Sister). It's a quick read with great twists. You won't be able to put it down. Time to start bk 2.

    An easy read....

If you've read the original Dracula you'll enjoy the addition to the story. Although this book is not as complex it is nice story and adds to the foundation well.

a lover of all things with fangs

It's amazing! I never thought that this book could be so astounding! And most important it takes place when a real war was going on and described everything in perfect detail. I can't wait for the sequels!

How do you catch a vampire?

The setting is World War I. The documents are the journals and letters of Lieutenant John Shaw, Miss Mary Seward, Miss Lily Shaw, and some other bit players in this drama. Bloodline is a graphically violent story starring the bloodthirsty Captain Quincey Harker, a man who is charming, and yet ruthless with the enemy or anyone who appears to show weakness. As the story unfolds, the reader begins to see the outlines of the infamous Dracula with an ending twist that will surprise even the most prescient readers. It is a quick read, though gory in places. Students who enjoy the legend of Dracula and old-fashioned horror/suspense will enjoy this novel. The author does an excellent job of telling the story through multiple viewpoints, and, like Hitchcock, is able to create drama without resorting to a complete descent into titillating details. The values and language of the time is reflected accurately without slipping into current vernacular which would render the story less effective. There are many philosophical issues that the book raises which could be used in a literature class or social sciences class.

    Amazing

This is one of the best novels i have ever read. Following the story of Bram Stroker's acclaimed novel Dracula, Cary makes a story filled with suspence, and monsters, yet she also delivers the spine tingling realism in the words of the characters. This is a novel that one truly enjoys, not only because of the action and suspence, but also because it has a heart. Many novels tend to be empty, they are unable to connect with the reader. My words fail to do justice. This novel will not leave readers dissapointed.

    Seriously, I was hooked!

I seriously couldn't put this book down. It made me sick to my stomach at some points but I couldn't wait to see what happened next so I didn't put the book down 'til the very last page. Even then I wanted more. So I read it again. (=^.^'=) And then I lent it to my friend. And they loved it. So now we're seeing if our school book club will let us read it. I hope so. 5/5 tops.

Bloodline: Classic Story with a Whole New Look!

This story is by far some of the best books I have ever read! The storyplot is basically like other vampire books where the vampires are protrayed as heartless demons and the humans must stop them. But Bloodline is so much more than that! It has twists and turns that just keep you from putting down the book. The ending was brillant! It just blows you out of the water and making you crave for more! I loved it so much! I can't wait for the sequel.

WOW! I couldn't put it down!!!!!

This was an awsome book! I love scary stories so I bought this one just to see if it would mess up the original Dracula. To my surprise it didn't! It was just as good. I read it all day. It took me two days to finish! It was incredibly intriging and the plot twist was totally unexpected! I cried in the end! It was an excellent novel and I would Definately recommend it to other readers!!!!! Congrats Kate Cary! Excellent novel!!!
