Still reading one by one...
I was introduced to these books by a friend. I didnt expect to enjoy them as much as I do since I dont usually like mysteries.
These books combine a vampire base line with a touch mystery, suspense and the occassional lightheartedness. My fiancee catches me laughing as I read. There are strong, unusual love interest topics. Personally, I dont recommend these books to young readers. These parts are not the typical love scenes. However some adults will enjoy these unusual twists.
I can't put the book down as they get better and better. I also enjoy that each book provides a different mystery and the story of each book is connected so you dont lose track. This being said, you must read the books in order. I realized as I continued reading that there are some similarities to other stories Ive read. I was slightly disappointed but overall, They are great stories and I plan to continue reading them all. They are easy reading and are not boring.3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Best of the series so far
I picked up the Anita Blake series a few months ago and have greatly enjoyed them all, but Blue Moon is by far the best that I have read so far. The story line and characters are incredible! Laurell Hamilton takes you to a place that is so captivating and entertaining it's hard to put the book down. Richard and Anita's dynamic is great...very fun and sexual. Anita's relationship with all the characters in this book is just plain fun. I highly recommend this book and series. I'm currently on the 10th book and am still greatly enjoying them.

LOVE IT!
I love this book! Im reading Obsidian Butterfly right now and enjoy every second of it but this book did it for me! I love the fact that she finally accepts Richard so he can stop pouting like a baby, but i HATE it because she NEEDS to be with Jean-Claude!! I am in LOVE with him! And then theres Asher, Damian, and all the rest to come...

Character Rich
The entire book was written as if the main character of the story was talking directly to the reader. The conversational tone of the piece makes explanations and bits of history easy to take it. It is funny, conversational, full of well defined characters who own their personalities and lots of creatures and the occational gore...well, maybe a little more than occational gore. There is a lot of feelings to work through, a love triangle that's not your everyday thing and a lot of physical contact, both sexual and otherwise...It's a great read. I especially love her special brand of sarcasm. Enjoy.

Hated it
I really enjoyed reading this series until this book. There is too much detail regarding apparel & sex while too little detail is given to the characters and story line. The story climax and ending were rushed and just plain silly. I will read one more in the series in hopes this one was a fluke - very disappointed.

Finally more on Richard!
I really enjoyed this book. Plenty of characters, different personalities, fears and strengths, but I was able to keep up with them. I don't mind the sexual content getting a little more explicit, but I don't care for the inserting the extra sex innuendos and exposing of nude body parts (Anita's) wherever there's space to fill. LKH could calm down on the undiscovered powers and titles of Anita Blake. When I started the series she was already an Animator, Necromancer, Vampire Executioner, and consultant for Regional Preternatural Investigation Taskforce(RPIT). Not even half way into the series and I can add Human Servant, Lupa, Nimir-Ra, and talk about being a Federal Marshal. She's going to be invincible pretty soon! Yeah, I know, she's going to be a Fed soon..I really like the series so far, I'm just on #9 out of 20! I would actually give this book 4.5 stars.

Great story
I don't think I ever read a book as fast I read this one. Obviously from the title you can tell Richard is a main character, but not without a whole lot of drama and action. This story is a key book for the series as it introduces a character that becomes important to Anita later on and again tests her limits.

Ive read this book so many times
And every time i read it is like the first. It seems to me other authors have based their stories on her world, not vice versa. Check the dqtes. But anyways, love this book ,love anita's storie, love the world(:

Ok, could be better
I enjoy this series but the main character is so conflicted, i get tired of the constant violence. the author needs to leave a little more to the imagination.

I was begining to belive this book series was turning into a romance novel series until I read this book. Anita Blake is still a bad ass. I can't wait to read the next book!

A decent read.
I have to say it was nice to read an Anita novel that didn't include too much Jean-Claude in it. Granted the opposite end of that equation would be, you guessed it, a novel with too much Richard in it. I'm thoroughly convinced that Anita's "powers" were completely out of control in this book, up to this point everything has been a big unknown, but this book has Anita spewing power almost everywhere and having very little control over it. It seems odd to me that after reading the previous seven books, that Anita seems to still have no real direction. I think I would have given this book another star as it was a really interesting story up until Anita heals Nathaniel with the Munin. At that point I lost faith in the entire story and was glad there were only a couple pages left. Once you say you can heal a were from two silver bullet shots with some mystical sexual magic, you might as well say vampires have diamond skin in the sunlight... Oh wait...
