A great book for kids about San Francisco
Eric Wieman, the hero of Jammin on the Avenue, is uneasy as he travels to claim his prize week in a music camp in San Francisco. He¿s looking forward to learning and jamming with some of the best guitarists in the country and to renewing his friendship with Lashley Moran whom he met when they both won the Quickfinger Guitar contest in New Orleans. But things don¿t work out the way he hopes they will, and through a strange twist of fate, Eric finds himself calling on reserves of courage he never knew he had as he visits some of the most fascinating places in this complex and beautiful city. Whitney Stewart has written fiction and non-fiction for young adults. She has traveled to Burma, China, Nepal and Tibet for her research and has interviewed the Dalai Lama and Sir Edmund Hillary. Her books include: Jammin on the Avenue: Going to New Orleans (Four Corners), To the Lion Throne: The Story of the fourteenth Dalai Lama (Snow Lion) and Sir Edmund Hillary: To Everest and Beyond (Lerner). She lives in New Orleans, Louisiana. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
