Bold Spirit sparks spirit for saving one's own family story.
The story of Helga Estby is more than just a story about her walk across America during a time when being bold was not acceptable for women. It touches the heart of the value of family stories. I was mesmerized by the courage and audacity of two women doing something that even today would be considered an accomplishment, but without the benefit of good roads, cell phones and REI equipment. The boldness of the venture and the tragic repercussions, brought home to me my own family history nearly lost because no one has taken the time to collect it. This book makes you think and recognize the importance of each of us in our own family system. I believe it is a must read book. It's an easy read with a powerful punch. Was this review helpful?
