Inspiring for Aspiring Teacher
This book as become one of my favorite children's books of all time! The illustrations are enchanting and the text is inviting for both English and Spanish readers. As an aspiring teacher, I found it inspiring that Pat Mora is not only an activist for reading and children but also an author! Mora is not only talking the talk, but also walking the walk by not only establishing the literacy initiatives' Children's Day/Book Day but also donating proceeds of her own books to the cause! Was this review helpful? Love this book...
Pat Mora tells of a story in which a day is designated to celebrate children and reading their favorite books. Children of all nationalities from all over the world celebrate and take part in this glorious day. Children read in the car, in a whale, in a submarine and in a train and even in a plane all celebrating themselves and their favorite books. This book is beautifully illustrated with a rainbow of colors and array of pictures from suns, alligators, children to smiling moons and giraffes in hot air balloons. Rafael Lopez's artwork is impeccable and brings this story to life. This book is bilingual written in English and in Spanish it is a great read for everyone. I loved the fact that I could read this book to my children in English and in Spanish and that the illustrations were so eye catching. This is a great book and I highly recommend it!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Very fun and colorful reading!
This book is a Pura Belpre Award winning book. I really enjoyed reading this book; it is full of color, fun, tradition, culture and different languages. The imagination in this book is so much fun and the children in this book are truly enjoying themselves alongside with their books. I like how it is in English and Spanish, this allows for different readers to read the same book and also to learn a new language along the way. The idea behind this book is truly wonderful, The Day of the Child. At the end of the book the author tells why she wrote this book and gives the readers ideas on how to celebrate this day that takes place in Mexico on April 30th. She invites you to celebrate children and reading books to your child every day. This is a great read for all ages; this would be great for its color, imagination, culture, tradition, language, family, fun and love of reading. Was this review helpful?
