    Follow these steps to SUCCESS!

    If like me, you are a business person just starting out in a service sector business, read this book! If you love what you do, but hate marketing and networking, read this book!

    Michael Port, "the guy you call when you are tired of thinking small", has done a fabulous job of sharing his systems and ideas in just over 200 pages. Filled with exercises to help you hone your marketing approach, Port guides the reader through topics such as 1) building your personal brand, 2) talking effectively about what you offer, 3) creating credibility, 4) the sales cycle, 5) web presence and more!

    Written in a very readable, almost conversational tone, Book Yourself Solid holds a treasure trove of information. One word of warning: The first chapter was a bit off-putting to me. It talks about weeding down your current client list. If you are like me and just starting out, there may not be enough clients to weed. I concur with Port's concept of only working with clients that you are enthusiastic about and I have used 'weeding' in more mature business circumstances. Don't let this 1st chapter drive you away from the book. Just keep reading or start with Chapter 2.

    Port has transformed himself and his business by using these concepts and then leveraging them and all his contacts to the max. My dreams aren't quite as lofty, but I did get a great deal of valuable information from this book and I am putting it to use each and every day.

    A Great Way to Get Great Results

    Excellent book! Well-written, easy-to-understand instructions and exercises, plus manageable, achievable action steps make this a great way to develop a client-focused marketing plan for a small business - or any business.

    Highly Recommend to the novice business owner

    This book is full of helpful information on every stage of building
    a business. Written in an easy to understand and personal format.
    Michael Port is down to earth and has a lighthearted sense of humor.
    Worth purchasing even if you know some or most of the material provided due to the step by step process he provides for covering all the bases in building your client list.
