    This book is awful.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone! In an apparent attempt to impress readers the author utilizes every perceived comparison or descriptive term, however abstract it may be, that he knows. I had to constantly fight to keep my eyes from glazing over, and failed to keep my mind focused. After reading a third of the book- I simply quit trying. It was a complete waist of time! It is being deleted from my library, and hopefully my mind.

    Alas, Dear Bebb

Not enough can be said of this novel. Finishing it was akin to saying 'Farewell' to a dear, dear friend and I will certainly always remember it. I have never known a person so well as I came to know the fictional Antonio Parr by the end of 'Treasure Hunt.' The people and characters you meet come alive like I have never experienced before; Antonio's troubles and triumphs become my own, and for at least a few moments, I don't feel alone in my troubles and triumphs. Buechner has created a masterwork the likes of which the world may not see again. It is a shame this book is not more well known. I may have waxed overly poetic, but I can only say you would do yourself a great disservice by not reading this book.

    Back in Print

A great novel of sin and redemption -- and a lot of fun, with characters you will remember forever. This book has recently been available only through out-of-print dealers -- and rarely then -- because those who have copies hold onto them. If you are already a Buechner fan, this novel is different from his more 'theological' books you may have read, but at its heart it tells the same message. A great read.
